A lot of the equipment is well worn out and needs to be replaced look at the treadmill. The belt is worn out. It treadmills have clearly been here way longer than they should be instead of fixing the ones that are broken or replacing them. They just put signs on them. They’re broken and then instead of repairing the worn out seats, they just put duct tape on them the shoulder machine has been broken for quite some time when you try adjusting the seat and you sit down for one time person adjusted. It got on and fell off. There is a safety concern and there was a guy fixing the light in the middle of the day, this is also a safety concern. What something could fall and there is a person on the machine right near machine that he was using to fix the lights should be done after hours in the middle of the day. Safety is not the number one priority here clearly. also, the interior is outdated. clear needs to be updated, but the workers are slacking off or the YMCA manager is not doing such a great job.

Anyone reviewing the Metuchen YMCA saying the equipments are worn out or old yada yada yada are people who just loves to complain. The place is not perfect but you can still put work in! Got all the main equipment needed for a proper workout! I got no complains. If you have issues with the equipment or facility why don't you donate then!

Metuchen resident for over 30 years. This is the same equipment that’s been here for the past 30 years. Completely outdated. The Ymca used to stand for family, community, and fun. Metuchen Ymca, unfortunately, does not stand by its values. I would rather drive to East Brunswick than go to this location. There is no sense of community anymore And it shows. The staff is in another world and pretty much non existent.

Gym is recently renovated which is nice but locker rooms are gross and the sauna has not worked in years. Very sad and never get a straight answer on if they will ever get it working.

I highly recommend the Mettachann YMCA to my friends and everyone! I was impressed by the friendly staff on my very first day. It’s been a month now since we started going, and we’ve been enjoying the kids’ swimming classes, line dance classes, and the gym. My kids absolutely love it there—the instructors are amazing, and my little one even gets one-on-one swim lessons. The line dancing teacher is super cool and friendly too. Everyone at the YMCA is so warm and welcoming; they make us feel very comfortable. Everything is perfect—I’d give it more than a 10! 😊
