What Parents Say
Harmony Place has received mixed reviews with stark contrasts in parent experiences. While some parents praise the caring staff and loving environment, multiple recent reviews describe serious concerns including poor staff conduct, unsafe conditions, inadequate supervision, and mismanagement during a recent ownership transition with poor communication.
I strongly advise against enrolling your child at this facility. The environment lacks structure and consistency, and there is little evidence of a routine that supports children’s development. Staff members often appear impatient and sometimes resort to inappropriate physical interactions with the children. Rather than engaging with the kids, they are frequently seen talking among themselves, using their phones, or eating during times when supervision is needed. Daily incident reports are common due to frequent altercations among the children, suggesting a lack of effective oversight and conflict resolution. Some staff have been heard using harsh and inappropriate language, including threats and comments that are emotionally damaging, such as telling children they are unwanted or expressing hope that they get hurt while engaging in unsafe behavior. Parents should also be aware that children may be unfairly singled out, with frequent negative feedback reported back to families without constructive guidance or support. Unfortunately, the leadership, particularly the director Lynn, has shown little initiative to address these serious concerns. Her focus appears to be more on protecting her position than on implementing the changes needed to create a safe, nurturing environment. Reports will be filed with the state soon. In the meantime, for your child’s well-being, I highly recommend seeking alternative care.
This center is poorly run, with unqualified staff, an unbalanced teacher-to-child ratio, and consistently unclean conditions. The staff are often disrespectful and show little patience, especially with children who require extra support. If your child isn’t potty trained—particularly if they are autistic—they’re likely to be left in soiled clothes for long periods without proper care. Broken glass was found outside in the play area. Several children discovered it and ended up cutting themselves. There was no camera footage available to identify the exact location of the glass, which prevented it from being removed from the play area. The director may act like she’s listening to your concerns, but instead of addressing issues, she’s more likely to retaliate by involving CPS or trying to have your child removed from the program. This is not a safe or supportive place. Look elsewhere for childcare.
We moved to the area about a year and a half ago and we've had a great overall experience with Harmony Place. But with this sudden shutdown and little to no communication about the situation ahead of time, we are going to be forced to have to find a new option if they are not going to open again soon. This is really upsetting because our child has had a great experience here, he has his group of friends he loves playing with, and we truly like it here. We really want to stay but we can't take our child with us to work...and have nobody else to care for him otherwise. Please let us know something ASAP.
I absolutely recommend harmony place as I am pleased to know that my grandson is very well taken care of I adore Barbara as Brysons teacher and well appreciate her for all she does in helping take care of his needs while I am at work worry free.
Everything was great until it wasn’t. No complaints about the teachers, our child loved them and we always felt comforted having our child in their care. The first notion that things were off on the business end of things is when I’d call to make a payment and I was told I had to wait for this other person to be in the office to take payment by phone. ( I prefer to pay by card, it’s not 1987). So the person would just never call me back and I would never know how much was owed because they didn’t provide statements or anything. So, that’s the person that will be running the new version of this center. Godspeed. The second and more deeply concerning problem is this; while home for Christmas break, we were notified from the office, a couple days before we thought we’d be bringing our child back to school, they’d be shutting down briefly to change owners. But not to worry, they only expected it to be 2 weeks. That was the last time they reached out. Now this all seems odd since the state website clearly states a temporary license could be issued so as to remain open during ownership changes. So we are left to only question what is really going on. A lengthy Facebook thread was started on one of their random “update” posts (this is the only way they‘ve remotely tried to communicate) and when parents voiced their concerns…Harmony Place DELETED the post instead of trying to address the concerns. So, yeah I’d say use caution before bringing your precious kids here. Teachers, amazing. Ownership, sketchy at best.
