Guilderland Ymca Y'S Time

I moved to Upstate from Orlando Florida, I was at the Troy location yesterday and it was wonderful the staff was friendly, small location but service 5 stars. NOW. I come here this morning, and I walk in and Claire might be her name is on the phone with another member and the call is taking long, that’s not a problem I patiently waited till she was done. She finished the call I walk right in front of her and she turns her chair and start having a conversation with a lady that’s standing behind the counter with a baby. I waited maybe 30 seconds, I had to interrupt and tell her “I was standing here” she doesn’t even greet me and has a whole attitude about me being a nationwide member. Making faces and seem like I was an inconvenience to her when you literally get paid to help. And this after she hangs up with the other member then made remarks of how she was trying to get off the phone to the other lady. YMCA DO BETTER. CLAIRE CAN BE IN THE BACK STOCKING OR CLEANING THE LOCKER ROOMS BECAUSE IT NEEDS IT. SHE IS NOT A “FRONT END” personality. Bad for business. I actually left right after signing in I was too disgusted to even work out. Location is nice. Claire needs training. Don’t recommend.

I’m an aide that comes weekly with a client that has a membership with this ymca .. the client aides are all (African Americans) !!! the (women) behind the desk are Not so friendly they would stare at you and Not say anything .. i was sitting there minding my own businesses and i was the only one sitting there in the lobby.. a man came from out the office and looks at me and asked staff who i was.. and starting whispering too another staff member !!! i was gonna sign me and my kids up for a membership .. after that situation it made me feel uncomfortable ..

Updated review: Give credit where credit is due. Friendliness of staff is much better. Full pool/sauna setup plus much more. I'd like more evening classes, but overall a solid Y. It still loses a star for the new trend of attempting to sign a doc you can't see through a touchpad.

I went to a yoga class last Thursday and I was prepared to pay $25 for a day pass even though I was only going for less than an hour. The woman behind the desk looked up my name in the system and because I had never been a guest there before, she said I wouldn't have to pay for the pass and had another free pass before I had to start paying for the passes. After the yoga class I was so excited and wanted to join. I went back yesterday to use my 2nd pass and a different person behind the counter acted like I was trying to get in for free, and the woman who put me in the system didn't even put any notes down when she took my info. Then she tells me about their policies and asked what the woman looked like. Really? I know gym policies. So I left. And I will never do something I enjoyed again because of this situation. I have depression, so me even going out of the house once I am home is a huge step and I really liked the people who teach the yoga class. But to be treated like I didn't understand how the rules work and being told incorrect information and then wasting time and gas to drive there, what's the point when the things I enjoy get dangled in front of me and then ripped away by an employee who told me incorrect information.

My go to spot is the Bethlehem YMCA, I have visited the Guilderland location. The Guilderland location has a great pool. It’s clean. The staff is friendly and overall it has a professional vibe.
