What Parents Say

This Head Start center receives mixed reviews primarily focused on administrative services rather than childcare quality. Parents consistently report extreme difficulty reaching the facility by phone, with appointment slots filling within minutes of the 8am Monday call window. While some staff members are praised for professionalism and compassion, others are criticized for being rude and dismissive.

Called 14 weeks in a row from multiple phone lines a little before 8 to try to get through, but by 8:02am sometimes it says appointments are all FULL for the week! So are they actually answering and helping people that super fast???? Out of 14 weeks I only made it into que twice, each time over 100 people ahead of me and that’s in less than 3 minutes! This is impossible and no walk-ins? I guess they want most of AZ homeless while they pocket the funds! When person does answer much later all they say is call 211 or SVDP! No help at all!

I’ve been trying to find actual rental assistance as I’m desperately in need of it because I’m about to give birth soon. I’m always redirected back to getting that support from Travis L. Williams even from 211. This is an unreliable source as the phone lines every week are immediately said to be busy when at exactly 8am on Mondays. The calls never go through and the automated system immediately tells you to call back and then with and hour and a half it tells you the all appointment are full. This source is not a reliable rental/ utility assistance. At this point I think this needs to be investigated because it’s starting to seem like a scam. As other reviews are saying the same.

I’m writing to share my experience with the Travis L. Williams Family Services Center, specifically regarding my interactions with a case manager named Veronica Johnson. Unfortunately, my experience has been quite disappointing. Over the course of our interactions, I have found Ms. Johnson to be consistently rude, condescending, and dismissive. Her lack of compassion and unwillingness to communicate with basic courtesy has made a difficult situation even more stressful. With over 30 years in customer service myself, I’m well aware of the importance of empathy, professionalism, and respectful communication — particularly in settings where individuals are seeking help during times of hardship. Sadly, these qualities have been noticeably absent in my dealings with this case manager. While I understand that case managers may have high caseloads and complex responsibilities, a baseline of kindness and understanding should not be optional. I do not feel heard, respected, or supported when interacting with her, and I find myself dreading communication that I cannot avoid. I sincerely hope the center takes steps to ensure that all staff treat clients with dignity and empathy. Everyone who walks through the door is seeking support — often during one of the most vulnerable moments in their lives. That should never be met with hostility or indifference

I was informed about this place over two years ago when they assisted a friend of mines, it is so hard to get through to this place, call before 8am and the phone lines are busy , after 8am the automated phone line says call back , just for you to call back and it says to try back next Monday . Same thing over and over! It’s a waste of time , just pointless !!!
