What Parents Say
Grandma's House receives mostly positive reviews praising staff attentiveness, cleanliness, and children's happiness, but several serious complaints detail safety concerns in the infant room, inadequate hygiene practices, and mishandled incidents involving staff misconduct.
My children attend this daycare and I’ve never had an issue. All of the teachers are very nice. The place is very clean and I love that it used to be an old school. It’s really nice in the gymnasium is huge. My kids always do arts and crafts every single day. Miss V in the baby room is absolutely a sweetheart. Miss M and miss L are so attentive. They use an app that updates you throughout the day of activities things that they ate and what they do. Just a wonderful place to bring your kids. Really great experience because one of my children stayed with me at home until they were two years old and then we kind of gotten the groove of going to daycare after that. I’m just amazed by how tentative and suite the teachers are we’ve been going here for a few years now. I would highly recommend this place to anybody.
My daughter attended this childcare center for approximately 6 months. In that 6 month time frame, she was given a dirty bottle to drink out of 2x. The first time it happened it last 3.5 weeks; none of the teachers in that room said anything to me about taking the bottle home. I was furious!!! My daughter also had went 6 hours without being given a bottle, this was said over the phone (speakerphone) with another staff member present. I was livid!! I walked in a couple times when my daughter was sleeping and the lead teacher had a blanket over my daughters face (other children, as well). These are infants and young toddlers!! Nothing like depriving little ones of oxygen!! I witnessed my daughter screaming for at least 10 minutes while being isolated from everyone, in a playpen, on the other side of the room… and was told “I put her there so she wouldn’t grab the others food..” My daughter is maybe 2ft high right now, and they have the table with chairs in them to feed kids. She wasn’t grabbing food. And that’s no reason to keep her in a playpen, on the opposite of the room with nobody else with her!! The directors are not very attentive to the lack of professionalism in their building and create justifications for the poor behavior in the infant room! (I have the emails to prove it!) I was also threatened when I asked the director for my daughters stuff in her chart - which I have the right to have. Clearly they don’t even know the rights parents have! They’ve used scare tactics to try and silence me but I refuse to remain silent!! Phone calls, threatening emails banning me from their properties and telling me who I can talk to, etc. I give this place 1 star because there’s a few teachers who are genuine with their love for children and caring for them. I wouldn’t trust the infant room at all, nor would I trust the two in the office. They’re ignorant and justify mistreatment of children. It’s even said in an email, cameras are used to protect staff. 10/10 do not recommend - especially the baby room!!
This is my very first time using a daycare. I have a 9 year old and a 3 year old. My 3 year old goes here 3 days per week. He’s been there a few months. He loves his care taker “Bre” so much, it gives me such peace of mind that he’s with her. When it’s daycare days, I ask “do you wanna go to play place?” And my son always responds “Yes! Play place!” The only downside for me is the schedule, I could really use another hour… I think the school there lets out at 3, so I have to get him by 3:30…. but everywhere I looked had very slim pickings. Maybe short staffed, anyhow, they said they would once they’re able to. They have worked with me in cases that I’m running a tad bit late, which I’m super grateful to have an understanding staff to work with.
My son use to go here until I received a phone call from CYS saying there has been an incident with my son and one of the teachers there. Another teacher reported it and they got looked into. The incident happened 3 months before I was even told. The directors never told me UNTIL CYS got involved. They also never fired that worker, the put her in the kitchen and as clean up. My son still saw her until I could find another place for him to go. Once the police got involved they finally fired the girl. But the fact that the directors knew it happened and never told me makes me up set and I can not trust them at all. These people have no rights to hurt a 3 year old no matter what. And the directors should have taken care of that girl right away. If you do go here Please keep an eye on your kid.
My son has attended their free preschool this past year. I was soo reluctant to putting him in. Have been a stay-at-home the last 8 years and needed a part-time job. I have not regretted putting him in since he started (ok, minus the covid shutdowns but that is not there fault). My son is flourishing and enjoys going to preschool. The teachers & administrators are great! Thank you all for your hard work!
