I would 10 out of 10 recommend Good Shepherd for preschool or VPK! My son was challenged, loved, and taught by the very caring and professional staff. He was happy to go to school daily and it was often a struggle to get him to leave and come home. The class sizes were small and I never felt like he wasn't getting exactly what he needed emotionally, spiritually, or academically. His love for Jesus grew here and the seeds of faith were planted. Even the teachers who weren't his primary classroom teacher spent the time to get to know him. He was WAY more than prepared for Kindergarten. If your child is of VPK age, I encourage you to consider this top quality school!
Good Shepherd Lutheran school is an outstanding private school. Perfect balance of prioritizing academic excellence while supporting the students' social/emotional well being. Always puts the students first! Every class is informative, fun, and unique, and the teachers genuinely love to teach. Everyone at Good Shepherd is there for a reason, so staff members work together to create a truly amazing school experience for every child.
Good Shepherd has provided a fantastic educational experience for our grandson. We are in awe of the curriculum and the exposure he has been given, first in VPK and now in Kindergarten in but not exclusive to language, math, STEM and Spanish . The classes are small, allowing for more individualized help and attention and all the teachers are nurturing, positive, and caring. They make learning fun and the school is a happy place. The school offers so much to help children with their overall development. We have been impressed with how the teachers make fun activities for the children that enhance their academic work, and the efforts made by their coach to teach a healthy, active lifestyle in PE. STEM classes have been especially important to our grandson. He also loves Chapel each week and we are grateful for him having this experience as well. The school has many of the activities typical of school - field day , water day, trick or treating, Thanksgiving luncheons and Christmas programs. Finally we are extremely pleased with the attitude of the school toward safety of all the children. We feel the school takes extra measures to insure the students are, safe, secure and well-cared for. Bottom line is that all the children are loved, treasured and nurtured at this school by an exceptional, faculty, staff and Board.
I would recommend Good Shepherd for preschool or VPK! My oldest son loved school and his teachers. He was taught by the very caring and professional staff. The class sizes were great and the various classes they offer made him excited. Even when they were shut down for covid, (my second was there then) they created lots of work to help him continue to learn. I love this school and the people who run it. I would definitely send your child for VPK, they really get them prepared for the kindergarten.
My son attended VPK at this school. The teachers are the most caring people we’ve ever worked with. Before coming to the school, he struggled with discipline and learning. His teacher communicated with me—sometimes as often as daily—on behavior: including wins as well as misses. There is nothing as frustrating as only hearing about the bad things your child has done every day. Knowing she was celebrating the good as often as helping redirect the bad helped us feel like we were part of a parent-teacher team in education. The support and education he received there is top notch. I also love how he came home singing sweet songs about love and Jesus. He’s been doing excellent with his academics and the school exceeds all state standards. Not only that, we met throughout the year to get updates on his personal educational progress—things he was learning and where he was on their expected progress scale. The education he received at GSLS was at the same level as the much more expensive private Pre-K school my daughter attended in Alabama. And the actual love and caring he gets from the teachers and staff far exceeds any other school or daycare we’ve had experiences with. I would and do regularly recommend the school to parents considering local VPK options. We loved every single minute of our time there.
