What Parents Say
Goldman Family Preschool is highly rated for its exceptional support of children with special needs and medical conditions, with parents praising the expertise and empathy of staff, particularly Director Mary Lily. The center is NAEYC-accredited and fosters a warm, inclusive community environment that welcomes family involvement and serves the broader Portland area.
Its hard to even articulate the experience at The Goldman Family Preschool. From the moment we walked through those doors with our daughter our lives have not been the same. We entered pre-k when our daughter had an NG tube for Crohn’s & later was diagnosed with selective mutism. The expertise quality & connection & support/empathy from Mary Lily, the Director, teachers in other classrooms & ALL of the staff has been phenomenal. They’ve helped our daughter meet goals through planning hard work & excellent communication. I don’t know what things would look like had we missed the opportunity to have time with the preschool & be part of such a thriving supportive community. We are forever grateful.
I am an Early Childhood Special Educator and have been providing early intervention services for the past 17 years in the greater Portland area. The Jewish Community Alliance Preschool (JCA) is a high-quality Early Childhood program that is accredited with the highest of standards by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). It is a wonderful community of administrators, teachers and families. The teachers are very compassionate, professional and genuinely care about every child in their care. The families are always welcome and are encouraged to be involved if they are able to. Parents are supportive of the schools programming and will often be seen volunteering for various activities in the classrooms. I give the JCA my highest recommendation!
My son was given a scholarship last Summer here from my husband's workplace for 1 week of Summer camp. It was so appreciated since the price was too expensive for us. My son had a wonderful time and I would give the camp 5 stars for that. BUT since then I have been inundated with emails and snail mailers about all the goings on at the JCA as well as asking for monetary donations. I have repeatedly called and emailed and asked that they stop and telling them to take my information off of their list. They were nice every time and apologized and said they would stop sending these things but that they would NOT take off my name from their list and that they didn't have to. This is completely rude and to boot, the mailings HAVE NOT STOPPED. I am floored that a local business near me refuses to stop soliciting me and to think that I would actually give them any money now is laughable! I give them 3 stars for being inconsiderate.
A huge disappointment. Plenty of aid to "asylum seekers." Americans in need not so much.
a warm, open, socially committed JCC with a strong relationship to helping Portland's least advantaged as an expression of their commitment to Jewish values
