Gloucester Learning Center - Hayes

Gloucester Learning Center has been apart of Gloucester County Community for a very long time. I am 30 year old single mother who went to Gloucester Learning Center since I was about 3 years old for years. As an adult I still remember as a child how excited I was to go to Gloucester Learning Center. Fast forward I have end up getting married having two children of my own. Me and my husband ended up divorcing and I became a single mother. I ended up having to work three jobs just to make ends meet. Working three jobs with having two children under 2 and in diapers, I knew that I would have to find someone I really care and trusted to have my children since most my time unfortunately would be consumed in making ends meet. My mother reminded me about Gloucester Learning Center, the second I called and went up there to get paper work to register my kids, I recognized Mrs Laura. She was still there running the daycare center ! I was so excited, we recognized each other immediately. I instantly felt relieved that my children would be with someone who watched me as a kid. Gloucester Learning Center has been apart of my life for the most important moments and been there for me through and through. , from me being a toddler to my children now. 6 years later my kids still attend daycare there. Mrs Laura and her staff have been nothing but kind, caring, and supportive to me and my children in our situation. Gloucester Learning Center has basically helped me raise my children and have done nothing but made me and my children feel safe. They helped me and my children through milestones, walking, potty training , letter, numbers, first tooth loss. All of the above. Not to mention fair priced !!! Anyone who wouldn’t take their kids here or negative reviews I can tell you their is two sides to every story. I have never ha done bad experience with Gloucester Learning center in the 6 years my kids have attending and still attending to this day, nor myself as a child. We love you Gloucester Learning Center!!

I want to start by saying that I feel like the teachers were all very kind to my almost 3 year old daughter. My daughter attended for about 1.5 years, but started to act out and kick the staff and wouldn’t take a nap during nap time, resulting in several calls to pick her up. As a parent, I expect transparency and professionalism when it comes to the care and well-being of my child. Unfortunately, my experience with Gloucester Learning Center has been disappointing, and I feel it’s important to share my concerns. The lack of cameras or a structured communication system made it difficult for me to feel confident about what was happening throughout the day. There was no regular report on my child’s progress, behavior, or activities, other than the calls I received asking me to pick her up. The director made concerning and unprofessional comments about my child, including suggesting that she may have bipolar disorder or ADHD. These comments were made without any formal evaluation or consultation with professionals, which was alarming. As a parent, I would have expected the daycare to address such issues through proper channels, rather than making assumptions based on her behavior. Overall, I’m deeply disappointed with the lack of support and professionalism at this daycare. I believe it’s important for childcare facilities to not only provide a safe and nurturing environment but also communicate effectively with parents and handle sensitive matters with care and respect I hope that this feedback will help the facility improve for the sake of future families. I immediately withdrew my daughter from the daycare and she has had zero issues with her new daycare provider.

The staff are very well trained, are very knowledgeable and up to date with the current curriculum! They are SUPER clean and very neat and tidy! Ms Laura, the owner, works well with you on certain levels and she understands that life happens! Everyone who i have encountered in the building are so nice and well mannered when it comes to the parents, guardians, and especially the children! My kids LOVE it there and we will always use them when the need arises! I would highly recommend The Gloucester Learning Center in Hayes, VA!!

I have tried just about every daycare place in town. Grandkids was great but when my daughter started kindergarten it was no longer an option due to distance. I checked out others, one smelled like a convalescent home, and reminded me of an orphanage, another was a no due to an old dark windowless classroom, and another I tried but pulled my child after I witnessed some angry yelling (the short version). Anyhow, two children have both attended the Gloucester Learning Center in Hayes for over six months and they actually don't like to be picked up early because they get Karate classes there, they don't want to miss playtime with their friends, etc. One of my kids hugs every teacher in the building when we arrive and leave. The place is always clean, the toys, TV time, snacks, etc are on point. Ms Laura tells it like it is and keeps me in the loop about how my kids are doing and what is going on. I imagine her job requires a whole lot of patience and juggling. She seems to handle things with strength and organization that my children thrive on.

Enrolling my daughter here was the best decision ever. Ms. Laura and all of her staff are so friendly and caring. My daughter LOVES Gloucester Learning Center, and she is so excited to go to school every morning!
