I can confidently say that Gingerbread Nursery School is the best preschool in the state!!! Our experience this year with Teachers Anna, Whitney, Micah and Brandi have been nothing short of a dream come true for our sons first experience with school. When I was asking around about best options for our kids to go for early schooling, there is a reason I heard about Gingerbread continuously! I wondered if it would meet all the hype and it truly exceeded our hopes and dreams for our kids. The level of love and care for kids by all teachers and staff is incredible. The facility and huge playground is a kid’s (and adult) dream!! They prioritize building kid’s social skills, character, confidence, self autonomy and learning. We believe Gingerbread, and the knowledge and community we gained through it, is one of the primary blessings we have enjoyed by living in Norman. We love gingerbread!

I’m so glad my boys went here from preschool through kindergarten. Such a valuable experience! They were taught to be curious and be excited about learning. They were taught to think for themselves and be good citizens. My husband and I learned so much from the teachers and found ourselves asking “what’s your plan?” instead of saying no. We learned to ask “what’s are you going to do about that?” when they encountered a problem as they got older. We learned it’s important to let the kids do things they are capable of doing themselves even if the parents could do it faster to help develop their self esteem. It’s an amazing place that really helps create independent responsible citizens that you want to be around. I loved every minute of it! The cool parties. The awesome field trips. The amazing playground! My boys told me they liked that the teachers never talked to them like they were little kids. It made them feel good about themselves to be there. Such an awesome way to start their learning journey. Thank you Gingerbread!!!

Gingerbread is a dream. All 4 of my children went there and I would have kept them there through 12th grade if it had been offered. They nurtured and loved all my kids in the ways they needed throughout their time there. Cannot recommend enough.

Went to that place when it was the wonder-place of Pumpkin Shell (early 1970's). Worked in it when I was a young lady and it was Gingerbread (late 1980's). BEST nursery/preschool I've ever attended/worked in. Karen Diers was a wonderful and encouraging director. I know that Karen’s daughter, now the owner, has the same qualities. I remember in early seventies, having control over a classroom by letting the children think for themselves was quite a surprising/revolutionary thought. Montessori ideas in child development is what I remember Pumpkin Shell respecting and using as a teaching plan. This had a wonderful part in helping me grow up to be an individual who can think on her own!
