Do not use this place, they are unprofessional, they will cheat you out of your deposit. We rented a room in this event hall, the air was not working, and the owner did nothing. He told us to close the door and it would cool off. But the location never did. Than he lock the door so we had to walk outside and around the build to use the restroom. After was finished cleaning up, no one was aval to be found. So we place all the trash outside the door and waited for someone to come. This place is so unprofessional. So yes they keep our deposit because we was waiting on them. And we thought about putting our children in their summer camp. NOPE. They will never get another dime of my money. NEVER!!!

I’ve hosted a couple events here and won’t do it ever again. We were misled about setup & deposits on both occasions. The owner’s attitude is not friendly or welcoming to clients nor guests. DO NOT BOOK HERE if you’re expecting your deposit or someone to be helpful throughout the entirety of your event. It’s sad when we try to support our own and get treated disrespectfully in return. Do better.

I rented the small room. On the website it stated the room was 75/hr when I called he told me the rate was 89/hr! The room I rented from them was hot! The air conditioned system must not work on that side of the building. The room was closed off from the rest of the facility so the guest had to walk outside around the building to go to the bathroom. Parking was a joke! We only had 20-30 ppl and they had to park across the construction street walk up the cracked sloped driveway to get to the event! When it was time to go I had no idea where anything was located. We tried finding the dumper etc. I was told I would not get my deposit back because we left 10 minutes after our time! I feel he pulled that mess because he know we were from out of time. The owner is ripping off ppl beware you have been warned!

From Very Unhappy Client to Genesis and Light Center (Mr Alfred Wilson): We Rented The Genesis and Light Center for my sister's baby shower. We had a lot of people coming from all over Mississippi and even out of state so we wanted a central area. We found The Center online and thought it was perfect. My mother who lives in Jackson actually went to the Center Multiple times and talked to Mr. Wilson the Manager. She was told many different things many different times. She paid up front including a deposit for three hours from 2pm to 5pm. Extra $10 an hour to have someone available to "help" us when needed. I assumed helping us meant setting tables\chairs up and being available to help put away when shower was done. Boy we were wrong. We got there early to set up which we told we could do. From the start Mr. Wilson was rude and seemed to have attitude. Constantly confusing us saying to park here. Don't park there. He offered no help setting up chairs or tables. He seemed agitated when we asked about a bathroom pointing to one on the other side of the building. This bathroom was only accessible by walking through a courtyard and down two flights of uneven brick steps. We questioned this because we had elderly family, some on walkers and my 8 month pregnant sister who would require (imagine this) a bathroom. After we questioned about another bathroom he got attitude saying there was one available inside but he didn't feel comfortable having people wander around the building unsupervised. This confused me because I was under impression we were paying extra to have him available. The shower was supposed to run from 2-4 but we paid til 5 in case it went over and to give us time to clean up after. Starting at 4pm we were constantly bothered. He made two people move their vehicle stating they were blocking people but really it was just because someone else wanted to park where they were. He bothered my mother multiple times saying that another party was trying to park and he was afraid we would get blocked in. This was at 415pm and we HAD the place until 5. When the shower was over and we were trying to clean up, he was constantly in and out of room saying they had another party booked and they needed the parking lot. Now how is it fair that we pay til 5 but we have to push our guests out to make room because their parking lot is too small. Finally my pregnant sister told Mr Wilson if he would bother to help us we would get done a lot faster. He finally seemed to understand he had pissed us off. To make matters worse we were told there was no kitchen on the premises. This meant constantly hiking up and down steps to use the bathroom sink when needed. However when we were packing up my husband saw a kitchen right next to where we were. I would have gladly paid extra to have access to running water. I am happy my sister had a wonderful shower. But no I will never use the Genesis and Light Center again.

Didn't like not having input on activities and being treated like a child. Loved the group of individuals and still do but I would go there again.
