This school has many accessibility features such as the double doors to enter and exit, no stairs to enter the building, handicap stalls. These features are great for anyone who enters this building. The children and adults that enter this school have every potential to be accessible in this building. The basement (where the children play) is the only issue if an individual with a disability enters the building due to the fact that there are only stairs. If there was an elevator, this would benefit the school in terms of disabilities. The classrooms have wide spaces and everything in the room is low enough for the children to reach. Overall, this school has many features that benefit an individual who has a disability. This school is welcoming to any individual no matter what. Excellent school and excellent directors!
I love this school so much and am so grateful my girls go there. The preschool is truly wonderful and the teachers/director are the best. They have an 8-5 option which is so helpful and everyone is just so kind. The kids play outside as much as possible and do all sorts of activities, like nature exploration, growing butterflies, cooking class, and yoga. Gan Shalom is the best!
Gan Shalom has been our home away from home for the past 4 years. My son started in a mommy & me class and just graduated pre-k! My son flourished during his time at Gan Shalom - acquiring valuable life skills and social skills, as well as academic preparation for kindergarten. What makes Gan Shalom so special: a warm and nurturing environment, top-notch teachers & staff, a low staff:student ratio, play-based/Montessori style learning, & fun parent-night-out & fundraising events. Gan Shalom is truly a special place.
We love this nursery school! Our son went there starting in the 2's (actually, the 18-month mommy and me program the previous January). All of the teachers were warm, nurturing, and truly cared (and continue to care) about my son. The director is very involved and, no matter what came up, she was always very understanding and accommodating. As an educator myself, I appreciate the Reggio Emelia-inspired educational philosophy, where the children are encouraged to learn through inquiry and experience, and natural, more basic toys and experiences are available (love the outdoor classroom!).
Gan Shalom is caring, nurturing, and professional. Hands on teaching across arts/nature/science/spiritual/music/movement accompanied by great parent communication. We would absolutely recommend for early education. You can feel the strong sense of community. Lisa and Allison in the 2’s are especially are wonderful teachers - loving, flexible and experienced.
