What Parents Say
Friends Association for Children is highly praised by most parents for its caring staff, strong academic curriculum, and performing arts programs. The facility has a long history of positive community impact in Richmond. However, one parent raised serious safety and hygiene concerns regarding supervision, sanitation practices, and staff responsiveness to incidents.
This is a truly phenomenal program. The second you walk into the building you know you are in a special place, and it just keeps getting better. Everyone who works and volunteers there is kind and caring. The kids all love it and the content of the curriculum is amazing and really prepares even young kids for school and life. Our son has been there since he was one and has thrived. We are so thankful to be a part of the Friends family.
This is a great place to send your child to learn but if you would like to make sure they are safe that’s another topic potty training children sit in open door classrooms with underwear exposed and regular toddler T-shirt’s on and no incident reports will be done when your child is injured. My child got a bacteria infection in his eye because one of the staff picked the scab on his face. I have made my concerns known to several appropriate staff members and they responded with rude tones and attitudes, and said “this is the way we’ve done it for years”. There’s no accountability nor apology just a referral to enroll in another daycare.
My son attended Friends at the tender age of 3 yrs old until he was 15 yrs old. It’s the kind of center you would want to nurture your kids. Your kids would definitely learn with the excellent academic background you child will receive; with all the wonderful lesson planning, and let me not forget the Musical Performing Arts program. The lunch program is awesome.
This was an amazing place for us in the 70's, 80's and 90's. Saw Mr. Bob for the first time in over 35 years. Almost brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for believing in us, Gilpin Court babies!!
