Might be just me but I've noticed that the district is always doing fund raising for the elementary schools yet the high school has the best everything. How much was that stadium? Took my son getting lost for them to put a safety fence up. Get it together.
My 3 children transferred to district 8 this year from district 49. In the transfer process not a single person told me there might be a chance that my autistic 9 year old would not be able to attend the same school as her two sisters. We toured the school, met their teachers and my 9 year old got so very excited to start her new school. I bought school supplies and got them ready to start only to be told my 9 year needs to wait to start so they can review her iep. Ok, not a problem. My 8 year old did start today and then 30 min before the end of her first day I get a call from a special needs teacher that my 9 year old cannot attend the school we thought she was going to because they have no para support for autistic children there. She is devastated. I’m beyond frustrated that I was not told anything until school had already started and now on the week school is already going I have to figure out where my kids are going to go and how they’re going to get there. The way the district handled this is absolutely atrocious.
My daughter had a document issue that needed to be addressed quickly. Veronica Garretson directly took care of it. She not only was prompt, she was friendly and extremely professional. This school District lied about my student. Said he had a fever and never did. My child would not participate with the class and was sent home. This school District is dishonest. Only wants my child for the funding but does not want to provide proper education for my child to improve his skills. They only care about funding. They don't care about students education
Completely neglects children on the military installation during hazardous weather conditions. Today (3/10/22) the real feel at 9:03am is -5. Thankfully I can take my middle school children to school but not all children have that option and have to walk. My village is a 2 mile walk from the middle school and there’s no buses that come here cause the district says it’s walking distance. They send home mandatory surveys to service member parents every year claiming to receive funds to help with whatever. I don’t know where these funds go to other than maybe sports? The middle school doesn’t even have lockers, they make the children carry all the belongings and coat everywhere they go.
