Our congregation is very welcoming and supportive of all people. Plus, Pastor Judy is amazing, our music is outstanding, and our mission program is inspirational! Come check us out on Sundays at 10 am.
Very warm open and welcoming atmosphere excellent holistic messages and fellowship - they even have a daycare so you don’t have to keep your child silent . When my child prefers to sit with me others are not upset when she acts her age. Wonderful affiliated daycare. Really a church working hard to serve the community
Whoops!😢 Some one didn't show up or forgot their week of when to serve. But we had plenty of bagels, bread of many assorted varieties, sliced and unsliced while most of us sat waiting for food to arrive from somewhere. Those overseeing "Martha's Kitchen" Friday meals that came to assist with the meal that was supposed to be prepared or brought in by the mystery group rushed around to provide for the decent sized group of us that came for the meal. I appreciate everything that was done on this 22nd of February, Friday, close to evening time meal. I, personally, do not kn how long First United Methodist Church has been coordinating these meals for the medium and lower economically challenged people and families of the community. It has helped me; and helped me to assist a few neighbors that could use a boost. Thank you to every church and person in the area that kindly provides this meal most Fridays from 4:30-6pm, throughout the year. Thank you for paying attention to the types of things you are serving to us. Thank you for the variety of salads, veggies, fruits, and main courses that is usually laid out for us.
The religious services are what you would expect from a large denomination, but there is so much more going on the rest of the week. Every Friday afternoon at 4:30 there is a free meal as a result of co-operation among 13 area churches. On the first Friday of each month there is a grocery giveaway sponsored by the FUM Church and the SeaGate Food Bank. There is an emergency food pantry at the church available weekdays. And that's all just food. There are many other social services and projects and programs either from within FUM or in conjunction with area churches and other organizations. The Friday afternoon dinner has been cancelled, as the woman in charge has died, and no-one has volunteered to replace her. There is, however, a free community lunch on the second Saturday of each month at 11:30.
I went to church here while a student at BGSU, this church is welcoming and helpful.
