What Parents Say
First Step Preschool in Parma receives mostly positive reviews, with parents praising exceptional support for children with autism and noticeable developmental progress. However, some parents report communication failures during transitions and concerns about limited growth for peer model students.
My Daughter went to this school for two years. She's autistic and didn't speak or really acknowledge much when she first started. She was in her own world. By the time she went to kindergarten she was talking, playing with toys, interacting with peers, and improved so much. She started calling us Mommy and Daddy, asking for things, wanting us to join in when she played. She was potty trained with the help of her teacher and paras. She went from a level 3 to a level 2 in those two years attending. Thank you to everyone that helped Lilly during her journey there! :)
Peasantview First Step Preschool in Parma, Ohio has been a very safe and caring place for my grandchildren.(Twins) This is our second year, and the staff is always attentive to each child’s needs. One of my grandchildren has autism and is supported beautifully, while the other thrives as a peer model. The teachers are excellent, the academics are strong, and both children are growing and truly ready for kindergarten.
My son went here for 2 years and at the end completely failed my child. My 5-year-old has autism, and I spent months trying to coordinate his transition to a specialized school for his kindergarten transition. Despite repeated emails, calls, and even an in-person conversation, his First Step teacher ignored every attempt to get critical information. She then left for summer break fully aware the process wasn’t complete — and still failed to respond in a timely manner upon her return. This level of unresponsiveness is unacceptable. Families relying on this school to communicate or support special-needs children should think twice.
This school is organized , safe and professional. This is my autistic child’s second year and she just loves Ms. Lyson
Dont send your kid as a peer model unless you're going to do more than one year of preschool and this is not their year before kindergarten . Multiple people I've spoke with said their peer model student showed no growth. My son went. Both he and someone else I spoke to as a peer model in my son's class actually regressed. Save your time and look into Sunshine Preschool. Substantial difference in price but it's night and day. If you have a child with an IEP, I've heard those children thrive.
