What Parents Say
First School of the Desert receives consistently high praise from parents across multiple locations in the Palm Springs area. Parents highlight the nurturing staff, strong educational curriculum, family involvement events, and personalized attention to each child's development. The owner involvement and open-door policy are frequently mentioned as distinguishing factors.
First School is a wonderful preschool. Everyone working there is very nurturing and the individual as well as group activities cannot be beat. I especially appreciate Miss Cara as she has been most helpful, knowledgeable, and is so very patient with children. If you are looking for great preschool with an excellent program, staff, and teachers then I suggest you look no further than First School of Palm Springs.
They believe in suspension. I can't speak for all locations, but this is true of the Palm Springs location. It's a fantastic facility but "teachers" clearly have no patience. These kids are 5 years of age or younger. They're gonna have outbursts and tantrums. This is not understood here, at least by the afternoon teacher. Unless you have perfect angel children, I suggest taking them somewhere else.
I love First School of the Desert! Both of my children attended First School and if I had another, I'd send him/her there too! I love their yearly graduation ceremony, where all the children perform a dance/singing routine. They also have yearly picnic's, family pizza night and a Christmas performance. We signed my son up for extra curricular gymnastics classes - he LOVES Miss Gabby. They also have dance classes as well. The staff and teachers are both professional and loving. Andy loves his teacher Miss Jessica and everyone loves Miss Brianna! First School is run by a family and it shows. Miss Theresa and Miss Heather are always on hand should you have any concerns. I give First School 5 stars!
Absolutely the best preschool in the entire valley! As a working mom it's stressful to entrust anyone to take care of your child. When looking for childcare options in the valley I wasn't impressed with any, that is until I found First School of the Desert. The school is clean, friendly, and inviting. The front staff answered all my concerns and provided a tour. The children and teachers in the classes were happy, singing songs, and reading. They also have an open door policy which means you can visit anytime. (Although, I would suggest in the morning hours before lunch, the kids are involved in circle time/learning activities.) What really impressed me even before my first visit, was that the owners Mark and Dorothy answer your call. Over three decades in the valley and the owners make time for every parent (current & potential). This shows that it is not just a school or business, but rather an experienced parent answering the call of new parent, providing comfort & support as you start your child's educational journey. This is family. I dare you to find any other childcare in the valley with that kind of service! First School has become part of my family. The teachers welcome my son and me ever morning. The communication is fabulous, a note every day keeps me updated on his day. If there is a playground injury, the front office staff call me right away. The staff help get my son potty trained and celebrated with us as we said goodbye to diapers! The family fun nights and holiday celebrations help to bring together a new social network of parents, we have made almost as many friends as my son! I am so blessed to have found First School. I will be sad when my little guy graduates this school year, luckily his sister turns two next November! Enroll your child today! It's one of the best gifts you can give your child (as well as yourself). We adore our First School Family!!!
The teachers at First School Palm Springs are excellent. They have a curriculum that challenges the kids to think beyond their age level. Miss. Jessica has taught my 4 year old how to tie his shoe, write the date on his papers and so much more. First School has truly been a blessing.
