What Parents Say
Reviews primarily describe First Presbyterian Church as a welcoming, community-focused congregation with beautiful architecture and strong programming rather than specific daycare services. Most reviewers praise the church's inclusive atmosphere, volunteer work, and worship experience, though a few mention minor logistical issues.
First Presbyterian Church is a church family that truly practice what they preach. Congregation members, and pastors, help with feeding the hungry of Kalamazoo, volunteering at different local charities, welcoming all to church services, and helping anyone in need the best that they can. I grew up in this church and the youth are supported in numerous ways, including traditional youth groups, Sunday School, mission trips (both in the US and abroad), and any sort of help a young person needs in their religious journey. There are also groups for men and women that meet throughout the week based around shared readings, outreach, or common interests. As you get older in life, there is pastoral care given for people who may need in-home visits for whatever reason. Every single pastor I have known at the church has preached about practical ways to walk through life with God. They definitely preach to you and not at you. It is a traditional service with wonderful music and input from the pastors, youth, and the congregation. If you are looking for a church, I can't recommend First Presbyterian enough.
Such a beautiful part of downtown Kalamazoo that I had to share! Worth the walk any dayππ»
Beautiful church in downtown Kalamazoo. My 8 year old daughter's choir sounded excellent...the acoustics are fantastic. The church is old and small, so arrive early if you are attending an event and want good seats.
Traditional Sunday morning service with plenty of ways to βplug intoβ a terrific diverse Christian family. For those who desire more meditative worship try the Sunday evening worship on the first & third Sunday of the month. I am a newer member and am very impressed with the worship experience and the service to the city of Kalamazoo. This place serves food for your soul!
The church is absolutely beautiful. Attended a funeral service as a guest. Very solemn, simple, and reverent. Nice reception held in the sunlit lobby afterwards for our small group.
