What Parents Say
Parents praise First Evangelical Presbyterian Church's warm, welcoming community and sound theology. The facility features beautiful architecture with stained glass and traditional music programs. Parents appreciate the small classroom sizes where teachers know all the children.
Great service, good theology and teachings, friendly congregation. Everything very much based on scripture and thoughtful readings thereof. Building is beautifully detailed with stained glass and wood and brick work as a nice bonus. Music is very traditional with some baroque and other orchestral-based stuff mixed in with great instrumentalists (organist is phenomenal and their bell group are amazing and they get very talented soloists). I'm 30-something and actually prefer a more "traditional" service with what I'll call ceremony-lite. Some people like guitars and prayer circles and contemporary Christian songs; I like organs and pews and the occasional eucharist. They hand out programs that make it very easy to follow the service even if you are not familiar with the format and no one is going to get upset if you sit or stand at the wrong time or don't have the doxology memorized 🙂. Mostly they want you to know they are happy you showed up and want to learn. They also do great outreach and try to give the congregation ample opportunities to volunteer and to donate as people can for various events and activities and missions.
We have been attending First Evangelical Presbyterian Church for the last 4 Sunday mornings. The theology is sound, the people are warm. We even had a tour of the beautiful facility with an Elder. No discrimination here.
It was lovely time, there was Choir, Bells, Roanoke Brass, and of course the First Kids singing "Go Tell It On The Mountain". Conducted by Patti Trail. Leader of the Chior and the First Kids.
I almost got in a car accident at the corner of this building and God was there and I watched his hand come through the stained glass and pull my vehicle away from the danger this churche is legit dude. Seriously.
My kids love it here, very small classroom and the teachers know all the kids
