What Parents Say
First Christian Nursery School in Riverside receives overwhelmingly positive reviews from parents who praise the caring, dedicated staff and strong developmental outcomes for children from infancy through pre-K. However, the facility faces potential closure due to financial mismanagement by the non-profit owners, which would displace over 100 families. One reviewer noted inconsistent staff quality, with only certain teachers (Liz and Ms. Roula) standing out as exceptional.
My son has been attending FCCPS full-time since June, and this review is long overdue. In the past eight months, he has absolutely loved it. Despite being a timid boy who isn’t always comfortable around family, he adores his teachers. They take the time to understand his personality and make him feel at ease—like holding him at drop-off to help with the transition. The facility may not be fancy, but the staff’s creativity, warmth, and dedication more than make up for it. They continuously find fun, budget-friendly ways to engage the kids and involve parents. This year alone, we've enjoyed a trunk-or-treat, fall festival, Christmas show, and multiple spirit weeks. Miss Liz, Kimi, and Carole do a wonderful job at running the place.
Hello, to all parents even perspective ones. This review is VERY long overdue as I have had all my kids attend FCCN since 2017. Unfortunately, the school is facing being shut down due to mis management of funds through the non profit owners and wealthy individuals who do not seem to understand how much this preschool and church means to its community as it has been around for 60 years. I had the privilege to have all four children of mine walk through the doors and adjust to fee/ tuition rates as well as staff and director changes. I have had the blessing to Meet and my children build relationships with qualified professionals, teachers, caregivers , parents and family through the doors of FCCN. They were the only location that I have trusted to care my kids since my husband was away in active duty in Japan in 2017-2018 and returned home. First Christian Church Nursery helps the community by caring for children of esteemed care workers, Allied Health active duty and veterans. As a social justice advocate of my greater riverside community, I find this news to be unjust as we were only given less than 4 months to relocate. That means more than a hundred parents and more than two hundred children will be displaced. I hope anyone who reads this review would be able to give their own and stand up to save the school from shutting its doors forever. This has not only been a place of care but a second home and family to all my four children. FCCN board, please reconsider shutting your doors. A lot of us, have NO WHERE ELSE TO GO or simply do not feel safe or comfortable doing so. Best health, Jessica Zenteno Community Organizer/ Social Justice Advocate/ Health practitioner
When I returned from maternity leave, I was worried where I would find care for my daughter. After touring with Miss Kimi at First Christian Church Nursery, my mind was at ease. I knew my daughter would be in good hands with them. Their infant care is amazing and staff have been so wonderful, communicating with me on anything they need or any concerns they have. Now that I've had my second child, I can't wait for him to experience what his sister has experienced. I love that they have a flexible schedule that works for my schedule and are open year round. Highly recommended if you're looking for infant care!
Our son went through the entire program starting at 6 months old in the Infant Room all the way up through preschool until he turned 5 years old and started Kindergarten. When he started Kindergarten, he had such an excellent head start among many of his peers as to what they were expected to learn by the end of the year. His social and classroom skills were excellent and he genuinely loves going to school every day, which I attribute to the skills and preparation he received from his time at First Christian. When our son moved to Kindergarten, we took a brief break from First Christian... only a few months because soon after we started our baby girl in the infant class. I remember being a nervous wreck dropping our son off on his first day. It was such a relief the second time around to have full confidence that, from our experience of the years our son spent at First Christian, that our baby girl was in good hands and was getting the best care for her overall well being and development that we could hope for. We are so thankful for the First Christian staff and the wonderful community of people we have met through it. I highly recommend this school to anyone looking for a place to send their little ones!
FCC is a hidden gem when it comes to daycares in Riverside. All the teachers are truly gifted caregivers. FCC offers part-time day care so that families do not pay for care that is not needed. I have 2 children attend (2 & a newborn) and I feel great comfort knowing my babies are safe while I have to be away. This program is super reliable and I hope to be able to continue to bring my kids here until they are able to enter the school system.
