I love this church and the pastor and staff made me feel welcome from day one. If you truly want to feel the presence of God come to this place.
We have been attending the church for over a year. With that being said, we are currently looking for a new church home. Currently been to a few in Shreveport and Bossier and complete night and day. The church is not diverse. I have been all over the world from Barcelona, Spain to South Korea, to Italy and have attended a few churches on and off air force bases and in the Caribbean and felt in my opinion, it is necessary for a church, (Especially during praise and worship (songs) and Deacons, Ushers, Sunday School Staff/Volunteers/Guest pastors and *Major Holidays* (sermon on equality) to be diverse. The Sunday school classes should not be there to primarily get to know the person, their families, but the church as a whole should or would like to know the families. If someone has fallen and could not get up (or injured/sick) the Sunday school and the Pastor/ Deacon should take it up on themselves and try to make a hospital visit or a house call that may need a prayer/ and or encouragement. (Sunday School Classes should not be their only support system. Especially, since there are dedicated church goers that pay their tithes and offerings. If you are a Senior citizen and especially a widow(s) there are guest speakers that attend the church to provide advice, but when it comes to individuals that are younger in their 20s, 30s, etc. (activities are very limited) There May be younger individuals whose interest might be to attend, when they are not working on that day. Voting within the church, if voting on a guest speaker and funds are going to used, the church body should know if the guest speaker will speak freely on their own accord or if there is a fee(s) involved, the church body should know, especially to decide as a church body whether or not they would still consider. We loved the Sunday school area. My little one attended and loved the volunteers and loved that a Sunday school message was delivered (they teach kids with plays, music, dance; fun) In addition, we also Loved the activities on the field for Easter, Halloween (placing God in the midst of this Holiday), etc. sports activities for the kids, the community, just loved. Finally, another reason for not attending We requested a lemonade stand (nonprofit organization little girl joined to instill entrepreneurship) We could not find a location for the stand, *Many people suggested church and since at the time, attended religiously, we asked and was denied) It was not considered because, their insurance company would not allow, via their Secretary. Although, that very Sunday, an activity of hotdogs and drinks were going to be provided to the church goers before 4th of July and past events included food sales, etc. We kind of knew it was time to search for a new church because there was no diversity in the church and needs a more welcoming feeling when attending church. Honestly there a few things I left out, but that was on the heart.
I love that they have all kinds of programs for the public. You do not have to be a member of the church to participate. I'm enrolled in the grief therapy group and it's really helping.
Coffee @First Bossier - usually, I'm disappointed with church coffee bars. Not here! Excellent baristas.
I really didn't feel welcomed at First Bossier. I felt disconnected and discouraged after trying to meet and talk with the pastor. I tried my best to connect by volunteering but never felt the Holy Spirit move. I am very happy where I attend. I am connected and gained many friends plus the church I attend has choir, two morning services, Sunday night, and Wednesday night. Wednesday supper and AWANA for the children. Additionally, my current pastor has encouraged me to read multiple Bibles cover to cover. I have learned so much at my current church after departing from First Bossier.
