What Parents Say
First Steps Preschool in Katy receives overwhelmingly positive reviews, with parents praising the caring staff, nurturing environment, and well-rounded curriculum that includes academics, arts, music, and religious instruction. One parent reported a negative experience regarding the school's refusal to accept their child with epilepsy due to lack of staff training, citing poor communication and handling of the situation.
We love first steps! Our son has been attending since he was 18 months. He enjoys going to school everyday. His teachers are all so loving and caring. Would highly recommend this school to everyone!
First Steps Preschool is an amazing school for many reasons! We have been happy here for 4 years now; having 3 daughters attend over the years. The program director, staff and teachers all genuinely care for the students. The environment of the school is very positive and encouraging. I know my girls all felt very loved! The First Steps preschool schedules, activities and lessons are great too! It's a wonderful, well-rounded program with plenty of art, music, spanish, Biblical teachings, math, social skills and outdoor playtime. I'm amazed with how much my girls learn. But more importantly than the 'school stuff' they learn, they're also learning about the love of Jesus! We have been thankful to have our daughters here, and we'd recommend it to other families in the Katy area!!
Our son has a mild and controlled form epilepsy which was fully disclosed to the school prior to and during the registration process (paid). We then receive an e-mail from the school principal a few weeks prior to school start up stating they would not accept our son leaving us with little to no time to find alternate pre-school education. The reason is that staff are not trained for these types of things. This is very concerning, there is more chance of a child having a head bang or some other accident than the school having to administer epilepsy medicine. Fully understand the schools concerns however I feel the handling was terrible and somewhat discriminative therefore would not recommend First Steps.
Our family absolutely love First Steps. Our son has been a student for two years and he has been nurtured, encouraged, and loved. He wakes up most mornings asking to go to his class. We highly recommend this school!
we have twins and they have adapted super fast and well, the teachers are always kind and worried about them. the children are very happy at school
