This church has become a family to me. They have served our family in hard times and celebrated our joys with us. They have discipled my children and teenagers in the faith and given them lifelong relationships to encourage them as they walk it out. They all look forward to church activities. The church is solidly founded on the gospel and rooted in the Word. It has been wonderful to see the Spirit move here.
Unfortunately my wife and I had several bad experiences at this church while looking for a new home church. We attended 4 services in March and April of 2021. Probably the worst experience was our fist time there. We had a 16 month old at the time, and he tended to be a distraction during preaching. After the singing I took him into the lobby when he got restless. While I entertained him quietly, the older usher indicated to me that I should take my son all the way outside. It was raining that day. Not a little rainy, a full on down poor. He wanted me to take my 16 month old son out into the rain. I firmly declined and we stayed in the lobby. Unfortunately our experiences after didn't improve much. My limited assessment of this church is that it's an older congregation not open to new young couples. While they apparently had children's classes no one seemed interested in giving us information. We tried to make it clear that we were new and the information received was nothing. We have since been happily attending at Westwood Baptist.
Visiting First Baptist Church of Alabaster from a long time membership in a Mega Church, I loved it! I found it to be a comfortable welcoming environment with a small town feel. The praise band / music was beautiful, the sanctuary was just the right size. The Pastor is not only very knowledgeable with scripture but delivered a message of truth that we could all follow along with in our bibles. He has a great sense of humor and able to keep everyone's attention. I like the fact that he makes himself available at the door on the way out to shake your hand and talk / pray, what ever you need. I would recommend this church.
