Featherbed Lane School

We absolutely love Featherbed! I have an older child that attended the summer camp for multiple summers and twin toddlers in the daycare for two years now and we love all the staff, management and the whole concept of the facility. First I'll start with the summer camp. There is no other local camp that offers a full day traditional outdoor summer camp experience like this. The kids are outdoors all day when the weather is cooperative, they get 2 visits to the pool (a swim lesson each day and a free swim) later. They are allowed to be kids in a freeing, yet organized setting. There are theme weeks and the owners go all out for parties and have tons of inflatable rides and ice cream carts, you name it. My oldest son loves it so much that he wants to come back to be a Counselor-In-Training! My twins are in their second year of daycare and they are learning a new letter each week with sensory bin reinforcement and letter themed crafts and activities. Like the summer camp the school goes all out for parties, events and parades. They play a ton, but are being taught an equal ton. Last year my son (at a little older than a year and a half) was pointing out a squirrel in our yard and says "ardilla". Now, I speak Spanish quite well, but didn't know the word for squirrel, meanwhile my 1 year old is teaching me.... I found out he picked it up from Miss Cielo. They can now (at 2 1/2 years old) build impressively complex 3D towers with magna-tiles that are taller than they are (a skill picked up in play at daycare). All the staff here (teachers, counselors, life guards, maintenance and management) all go above and beyond to make this place feel special for the kids. I can't say enough good things and fully recommend to anyone looking for a wonderful daycare or summer camp experience.

Sent my child to this school. Huge mistake. My child didn't know what racism and prejudice was until Featherbed Lane. My child was a year ahead and rather than celebrate that, the teacher consistently acted as though my child did not belong. The class work that they claimed my child could not do, I would go home and teach myself and my child would master the lesson in one afternoon. So no, I would not recommend Featherbed Lane.

We had a really bad experience with this school and I would not recommend it to anyone. After 4 months of attending the school, our daughter started telling me that she doesn’t want to go to school. I decided to talk to her teacher to see if there was anything we can improve and the teacher told me that everything is fine and that if anything happens she will let me know. The same evening a social worker knocked on our door and that is how we found out that our daughter was constantly crying at school, they told to the social worker that our daughter had a head injury to make this complaint (which she did not have). After that happened we requested to see cameras and saw how the teacher was totally ignoring our daughter and this was the reason why she was crying. I can only imagine how many more times they were acting like this towards our daughter. The owner even did not see this happening to our child, she only kept telling us that her teacher are doing above and beyond. Besides that, I heard myself how teachers were rising their voices on kids, and the classroom was filled with few groups of kids and just divided by screens, there is no room for kids. They do not do room tours and only send pictures of the room your child is supposed to be in, but there are a few groups of kids in the same classroom.

The school is wonderful. Truly a second family. The staff always go above and beyond and communicate well. The curriculum is sound and challenging. My children love school and camp at Featherbed.
