Great School! It is not only great for Pre-school but also for grade school. I currently have 2 children at Far Horizons and I am about to start my third child there. My oldest started when she was 2 and she is about to finish 3rd grade. My other child also started when she was 2 and is about to enter Kindergarten. I have always been so impressed and surprised at what my children learn. They were both reading phonetically at 3. Now my 3rd grader is reading books that I read in middle school like Secret Garden, Tuck Everlasting, etc. Their math skills are also impressive! I know that when my children leave Far Horizons, they will have a strong foundation and a love for learning.
My two kids go to Far Horizons Montessori. The key question to me as a parent is: what is the school that i feel it is the right one for my children; and that meets my expectations as a parent? In this sense, Far Horizons has in my personal view two major strengths: a) Highly committed teachers, and b) a conducive environement for academic learning. Besides these two important qualities, this school has provided my kids with the tools "to learn how to learn".
Far Horizons is incredible. You must check out the facility. Beautiful - pure CLASS. Just observing the learning and confident attitudes of the children was so encouraging. I have been associated with Far Horizons for a number of months now and find their staff wholeheartedly committed to each child's welfare and development. I honestly had no idea what a child was capable of learning until I sent my children to Far Horizons Montessori. I have been amazed! The children have an individualized program that allows them to succeed! A concept is introduced and the child makes it their own through the materials and work provided. You must go visit to understand the concept. My children love to learn and are so excited when they master a new task! These tasks are not ordinary...my kindergarten child can answer multiplication questions at the blink of an eye and my 3rd grade child is writing "stories" the way I did in 7th and 8th grade!
I wish I had known before we enrolled our son that the women at this school would scream at him, terrorize and browbeat him. He was FIVE, and these people traumatized him so much that he spent six months there and learned nothing except to be afraid of school. There's no way I'd send a child there, knowing what I know now.
