-When I became a client with ShelterCare in Jan. 2003, I was an emotional mess. It took me a long time (about 10 years) to stabilize. That wasn't the fault of ShelterCare, that was all on me. Their program is excellent and if you let it work, it will. I had some excellent Case Managers. When a CM didn't work, I went to the powers that be and changes were made. About 10 years into the program, I knew I was ready to move on. It took a few years of searching and a couple of waiting lists before I was able to move. I continued having a CM for a few months after I moved just to make sure I could be completely on my own. I can't say enough wonderful things about ShelterCare. If you want to get better and are willing to work for it, ShelterCare is a great program. I know if I need their support in the future, all I need to do is ask. That is a comfort.

Some employees were knowledgeable about services they offer, some had no idea of the scope of services available. Some workers can be responsive and helpful while others will absolutely ghost you, leaving you completely on your own even at the most nadir of times. While I would say don't ever count on a worker or organization to be there for you when you are in thebmost need, I know the realities of being in the most desperate need and being at the mercy of these organizations. It is a most helpless and demoralizing experience.

Literally the worst place with the worst management! They kept a picture of my daughter on their website for 2 years without my consent (or her father’s consent) I have never received services from them nor will I ever! They are refusing to share who gave consent, even after I offered multiple times to bring in the documentation showing I am her mother who has always had custody! So disgusted with this agency!

I am homeless and they are helping me to find my own apartment. They helped me obtain a federal housing grant and they have assigned a case manager to work with me. I will be getting some mental health services through Shelter Care as well. I like this place and I feel safe here.
