**Review of Epworth Learning Center – A Deeply Troubling Experience** I’m writing this review as a concerned and heartbroken parent to warn others about the treatment my child received at Epworth Learning Center. What was supposed to be a safe, nurturing space for early childhood development turned out to be a traumatic experience for both my child and our family. During her short four-month enrollment, my daughter—who was just 2 years old at the time—was subjected to treatment no child should ever endure. One of the most disturbing incidents involved my child being locked in the director’s office (Mrs. Elliott) for the majority of the day—reportedly 90% of the time—simply because she was crying. I had no knowledge of this until I noticed troubling behavior at home. My daughter began screaming things like, "Send Mommy to time-out," which raised immediate red flags. Only after I inquired did I learn what had been happening behind closed doors. This was not an isolated incident. On a separate occasion, I personally witnessed a staff member yelling at my daughter on the playground, telling her to "get out of my face"—a completely unacceptable way to speak to a child, especially in a learning environment. Another time, a staff member named Ms. Helen isolated my daughter in a separate room and made her clean while other children played elsewhere. This kind of punitive isolation is not only inappropriate, it’s emotionally damaging. To make matters worse, the center routinely failed to provide basic necessities such as food. They do not serve breakfast, lunch, or snacks—and often refused to open the packed lunch I sent, leaving my daughter hungry throughout the day. Mrs. Elliott, the director, was completely unprofessional throughout these events. When I voiced my concerns, I was told the building was a "rented space" by the church as if that excused the behavior. No meaningful accountability was taken. The staff overall were cold, unwelcoming, and clearly not equipped to handle the needs of young children with care or compassion. My daughter has since been removed from Epworth Learning Center, and I can say without hesitation that her time there was a nightmare for our family. For a facility operating under the name of a church, the lack of compassion and responsibility is beyond disappointing. Please do not bring your child to this center. No parent should have to uncover mistreatment only after seeing emotional distress in their child. Our children deserve better.
