Epic Head Start/Pre-Kindergarten

I personally know a few of the ladies here. I sincerely doubt this physical interaction happened. They all are patient and kind. Seems blown out of proportion to me. I do not believe this happened as stated. Staff are trained professionals. I feel I must add that my family moved here 20 years ago and head start staff was some of the first people we met. Some are still there today. I have always admired the team and how helpful they are to families and they are the epitome of kindness. They are the best!!!

I would NOT choose this program to involve your child in. They claim my child is so challenging they had to add a 3rd teacher to the classroom (claiming this extra teacher was for the entire room for extra help.) They then went on to say that said teacher only comes in when my son is there when he's not there to "create a difficult learning environment for the other children" this teacher apparently is not needed. This program instead of helping my child solve his issues now he has moment's where he acts like a bratty 4 year old boy and he hits, spits, and had a phase where he'd throw around curse words which is definitely not ok, but, the people who run this program obviously know my son needs extra care sometimes. Instead of working with me and my 4 year old or even asking what ideas I have to help inside the classroom this program runs from 8 a.m to 2 p.m first about 2 months ago they put him on a shortened schedule from 8 a.m to 12 p.m which BTW makes it hard for a single mother to get or keep a job. But since they do not understand how to manage my child they just are pushing my son out of the classroom a little at a time. Yesterday I got a call saying they are going to shorten his schedule once again this time from 8 a.m to 10 p.m TWO HOURS of educational time??? NO RECESS? What kind of program is this!! They single my son out of his entire class but try to claim they do not. I'm very involved with my child's schooling as well so I will always be that mom to participate during class parties or anything where teachers may need a helping hand. I was in the classroom yesterday, and my son wouldn't go to the large group rug so Ms. "J" grabbed my son's arms pulling him to the rug. Bad move, my son is so independent that is NOT the way to approach my child and they KNOW HIM you'd think they'd try a different approach but no they think trying to make him do something he doesn't want to do is going to work for him big mistake he will listen after multiple redirections his mind goes a million miles a minute... so from her obvious mistake in choice of correcting him, my son spit on the teacher in frustration, which again I do NOT condone in this unsanitary behavior...she claimed it went into her mouth...OK, but what she does next is inappropriate for dealing with small children who are trying to understand and grasp life some being slower at this than others. She got mad at my son and tossed him to the side onto the ground to go wash her mouth out and not very lightly he looked at me I didn'tknow what to do or say but I was in disbelief, these kids are only 4 year olds but are expected to each be at the same level some kids are just not fully there yet but have a right to be able to learn as well. I have asked for one of the higher ups in this program to watch the video and so far have not gotten an answer on that but that's understandable. It happened yesterday. This teacher in particular I've noticed is not super comfortable working with this age group and out of all of the teachers in this particular classroom she gets frustrated quickly and sometimes this results in unprofessional behavior. I know a lady who used to teach here and even she left due to how unprofessional and incorrectly some of the teachers act towards 4 year olds. Ms. "B" I've never had any issues with, she seems understanding with small children, patient, stern but kind. My child seems to like her more. I doubt this review will help my case any but I just want anyone thinking about sending your kid to Little learners, maybe double think that. ESPECIALLY if your baby is just not up to the speed they expect these small toddlers to be at. They need to reevaluate this program I've spoke to other teachers from different programs about my concerns, they say the way they are handling my child is not the correct way to go. And that I should 100% speak up for my child, because if I don't WHO WILL. Goodluck folks. Hopefully they don't toss your kid out of the program little by little as well.(OAKLAND RD LOCATION)

Both of my older children went to pre-school here. Very nice staff.
