This school is one of the worst in the region. While other schools in Maryland or PA may be more expensive, the reason why becomes very evident in the lack of funding that is put into the building, its teaching equipment, and the limits placed on it’s teachers. I was enrolled in an electrical course with a teacher I did not originally sign up for, the entire year turned out to be a sham as the teacher I was placed with wasn’t even supposed to be teaching residential electric, the entire reason for joining in the first place. Gained no out of class experience while the neighboring class was able to work on real world projects. Office staff was incredibly rude about any issues brought up. Halfway through the year the restroom in our class was removed because the school didn’t want to invest in repairs, we were told to use the ones upstairs, however the school is intermixed with high school students, and the restrooms don’t even have stall doors. Was forced as an adult man to do my business in the open while teenagers waltzed in and out during their lunch period
Excellent truck driver training school with great instructors!!! I never would have been as successful a driver if I hadn't had done my training at James Rumsey. It's eight years later I own my own truck now work for a great company and I'm accident-free. You will succeed if you are motivated and go to this school!!!
I went to Rumsey this past year and had a very troubling experience. First of all, the all day program is completely busted. ANYONE can get straight A’s there because they teachers give you the answers. No joke this boy in my class at the time says “What’s the answer to number 5” right in front of the teacher and I told him the answer and the teacher noticed and commented on it but still put in the test grade as a 100%. Literally the Civics teacher is the only one who even has probably ever failed students. Even her class was super super easy. My lowest grade was a 97... I honestly just couldn’t take it anymore because it was too easy and just went half day. Even one of the tech teachers just gave us 100 and said literally no one fails his tests.. I definitely wouldn’t suggest doing all day if you actually want to learn. If you’re okay with getting a 100% and knowing nothing then do Rumsey all day! The Therapeutic Services ONE teacher however, is the best thing about the school. Just don’t go to Therapeutic Services 2 because you get useless certificate that no job takes seriously because literally everyone even if they didn’t deserve it, got it. HOWEVER, I honestly can say the kids at James Rumsey are great. At Jefferson, I had quite a few sexual harassment issues but at Rumsey, almost all the kids are polite and respectful. I never had one kid make fun of me which was refreshing! I honestly am disappointed in this school. I remember how excited I was to start Rumsey there all day and it turns out I overestimated them. They could make it into a better school by hiring and firing some of the staff. I have faith that eventually it’ll be the school it used to be. Right now it needs a lot of work.
The front office staff is extremely unprofessional and impolite. The job placement service after attending is an absolute joke. But then again it's what's expected out of any West Virginia funded institution.
My experience so far it’s extremely exciting because if you want to get your life together they’ll help . Very fast and fast responses. They’re great. I Recommend. I’ve haven’t even started yet.
