Like that it’s not always packed, decent equipment but upset about the pricing and that when I signed up with a partner whom we live together we were told to have a house hold membership we had to be married???? So now we pay about $90 a month for us both to go. No guest perks, no pool but one is coming I was told. I like the sauna but the pricing is crazy… I’d use planet fitness but moving out here there are none nearby.

Some of the up front have been very anti confidential, and rude the older lady at the front desk tried to inconvenience me and not give me any notice, I was using nationwide but I asked if I could then one day she wanted to be rude about it, then demanded I close my other account out while I was reluctant to do so, she asked me to bring a letter of good standing next time. Which is no big deal, but you don’t tell the customer what to do with their accounts that have nothing to do with their location what so ever. Prior to that another young white woman was working the front desk and relayed some confidential information, I then had received harassing phone calls from someone over that. I don’t really know what’s going on but the gentleman in the main office has remained professional, I will say that. It’s not his fault. There’s just a few bad apples upfront and I don’t really care much for it. I’m just trying to live life and they think it’s funny to give short notices and inconvenience people. I don’t think it’s okay to just inconvenience historically good standing customers. Especially if they mind their own buisness and never miss a bill on time.

Paid for a membership here and after my second time going to the gym around 6pm there was no one present to properly check in After my workout I was met with a man following me to the bathroom I told him that I have mace and get away from me . When I tried to address this issue with the staff there was no staff memeber a to be found . I was scared and devastated that I went threw this at ymca I went home to tell my fiancé and they encouraged me to still give the ymca a chance to make things right . My fiancé even went in to get a ymca memeber ship just so I can feel safe working out and not attend alone. When my fiancé signed up for membership we were discriminated against for being a lesbian couple . At this point I was disappointed and LOST %100 TRUST FOR YMCA . the following week when no one cared to follow up with both incidents we went in to cancel our membership. When we filled out paperwork to cancel our membership the manager offered us a 30 day free membership saying that she dropped the ball with staff training . 4 months later we never got our 30 day free membership and I was forced to go back into the center to ask them why they charged my card 2 months straight after cancellation. Once again all they did was said sorry we dropped the ball. I would never feel safe at this place and now I drive 45 min to colonial heights for planet fitness . Poor staff and management. If you are a women that works out this place is not safe .

The front desk staff pick and choose who they are courteous to. If you do not fit into the demographic of old and white you can forget about it. I barely go to the gym, but my most recent experience have not been pleasurable. I’ve had staff yell at me for doing their job and they are still there. Most recently a staff member said that my husband a non-member could not wait for me in the waiting area with my son who is a member. Never has this been an issue when my mother has been there, a non-member. This is supposed to be a family environment and make a paying customer at least somewhat happy. They’re racist as hell and I’m going to tell you why, when the front desk staff said my husband, of a different ethnicity of mine could not come in she was looking him up and down and disgust and just being outright nasty to us. Then the Director Kristin whom I address this to is going to project the incident onto me. If money was an issue the staff member could have asked my husband to pay, but she told us that we would have to leave and I’m paying for this! Then the staff member says that she does not care who allowed one of my non-family members in before it’s not her. She was nothing but disgusting to us. When I reported the staff member all Kristin did is side with the staff member who told me to go ahead and tell her which suggests that the staff member gets away with bad behaviors all the time. Then the audacity of Kristin to tell me that I slammed the door when it’s a pressurized door, therefore it cannot be slammed. Kristin expected me to respect the staff member when I was disrespected for services that I am paying for. Then has to audacity to question me about my behaviors at work and how to conduct myself as an adult, which her poor leadership skills. If I didn’t know how to conduct myself I wouldn’t have a job, but apparently the front desk staff can have no sort of basic people skills yet they still have a job. Kristin continues to question my conduct, but wouldn’t there have to be a catalyst to someone’s behavior. If you are black and enjoy paying your money to an establishment that will not welcome you, then outright side with their racist, bias and ignorant staff be my guest. It’s no wonder the place is struggling and only the elderly get treated with respect, let me retract that mostly the elderly white people. Kristin was all to happy for me to cancel my membership after continued disrespect and bias from staff, that basically says we do not want you here! Did I mention the kicker the staff member who this altercation happened with was giving my husband dirty looks up and down and didn’t barely look at us. If my family has to leave, one being a member my toddler, then you’re telling me to leave too! Then Kristin has the audacity to mention she reviewed a video as if it has sound. I’ve been going to this place on and off for years and keep to myself. I have an enormous problem when someone tries to vilify me and come at my family! Some of the staff here really do not know how to interact with the public, literally! Additionally in videos you cannot pick up small nuances such as attitude and aggression unless you’re physically present. What type of director basically sides with her disrespectful staff. Who can talk to someone like that and fully convey your sentiments when you picked sides! The last time I checked anyone in leadership would be neutral instead of questioning a paid members behavior. The last time I checked disrespect gets met with the same back. I was a paying member, yet I am the one who is supposed to keep politely overlooking the mentally dysfunctional staff here, please!
