What Parents Say
ELCO Child Care Center receives mostly positive reviews praising the owners Pat and Serena, Montessori curriculum, cleanliness, and caring staff. However, several recent negative reviews cite abrupt dismissals of children with behavioral concerns, poor communication, and unprofessional handling of conflicts, particularly with families using ELRC assistance.
Today we had started my newly 3 year old son at Elco Child Care coming from another larger child care center. We specifically waited for this center because you had to be 3 years old to attend. When we did the site visit (he was still 2) the director saw first hand how our son was with getting excited and not listening and said that this would not be a problem and they are good at working with children like this. This morning we dropped him off at 745. We were stopped at the door and as our son always does at daycare, cried when we left and usually 2 minutes later is better. Come 930, my wife received a phone call stating our son was not listening, was climbing on stuff and trying to pull stuff off of the wall and requested we come pick him up because he cannot finish out the day. When my wife picked him up they met her at the door and handed her his things. When she inquired about trying again tomorrow they said we will discuss later. 30 minutes later we receive a phone call saying he is no longer allowed to come back and they will be refunding all of the money.(the only silver lining to this). He just turned 3 years old last month and is in a new place where he knows no one. The center did not let us try again tomorrow, come in and sit with him to try and see if we could get him to listen or provide any option other than he is kicked out and could not even tell us in person. They made their decision solely based on a 2 hour day and did not even give him a chance to try again. We are by no means defending our son and know he is wild sometimes, but his prior center never mentioned him acting like that and all love him there. ***update** I had sent an email to the director expressing my frustrations with how she handled everything and advised her I would be in the next day to pick up the check for our refund. I show up and ask to see her and was told she was not there which was not true because her vehicle was in the parking lot. She had left a folder with our check and a typed letter explaining everything than she says happened. She doesn’t even have the professional curtesy to talk in person or even over the phone.
My daughter is there full time, my son was there part time. My daughter is 5 and my son 11 and they love the teachers aswell as the owners. I had talked to the owners on different occasions and each time it has been a pleasure. My children will bring home progress reports. This keeps us informed on what they are learning and what us as parents can help our children approve upon. "My children are my life" as for most parents their children are theirs also. I can say with the most confidence that my children are taken care of. I trust Pat & Sabrina with the most important people in my life! Note: We have been with Elco Child Care 2 years.
Was going here for 4 years with very minimal issues. I know uncle pat always yells at the kids tells them if you want to go to another day car tell your mom. Issues are never addressed and was never updated on anything was going on. Son was very unhappy Here. Out if no where because we need off on Mondays for the summer camp they decided we weren't a great fit anymore for their place. All over one day. How it was handled very unprofessional. When trying to reach out had no response back. I tried and tried again to give chances but honestly best decision ever to not go back as they find a way to charge you more money and always say how they don't want to work with ELRC families. Wouldn't recommend and will be passing on as I deal with a lot of kids at work as well. Had to update as of today 6/13 elco child care wanted to send me a letter staying how upset they are I posted a review lol because I stated the truth. They claim I didn't call when that Thursday I called left a vm and sent 3 emails but I guess that wasn't good enough. They try to put the blame on me onky because I had ELRC and don't care to work with people with that program. Honestly it was good but went down hill after 2 years. But I guess it's all my fault the lack their of communication unless they want to and also not listening as they kept putting my son with someone that bullied him after many times of me talking to the owners. The fact they sent a letter and whoever wrote it can't even sign their name is a joke. Oh also upset cause my dad called stated how unpleased he is with how they handled things. Maybe should get your cal logs instead you type up a letter instead of calling like an adult. This place is a joke nor would I ever recommend anyone taking their kids here and that's with me working in health care. The letter is a joke as no name is attached to it just says elco child care. Leaving best decisions ever The ymca is 10x better program should of went a while ago. The owners at elco child care just need to retire already maybe the kids wouldn't be so miserable going then.
My husband and I have known Pat and Serena since before the center was even open and before we had children of our own. Our good friends’ son had gone there and loved it(he’s now 18) so we felt good about having our kids go too! We have had children enrolled for about 7 years and counting and have had a great experience. They learn so much from the teachers. My 6 year old came home one day chattering on about Ancient Egypt like an expert. The teachers are awesome. Even when we see them outside of the center they are friendly with the kids and say hello. The kids are so excited to see them! Our children have made so many friends there and the thoughtful curriculum has been great preparation to set them up for success at school as well! Would highly recommend this center for parents looking for a team who cares about the kids and is focused on education and development.
The owners are amazing, the building is always very clean and organized. They have a wonderful Montessori curriculum that isn't just sitting and learning, it gives the children the ability to learn hands on. Mrs. Serena has so many neat activities that she does with the children not to mention how they learn about different countries! All the teachers are so easy to talk to and I know that my children are in good hands.
