What Parents Say
El Ruisenor Day Care receives overwhelmingly positive reviews from most parents, who praise the caring staff, bilingual instruction, small class sizes, and homey atmosphere. The center has two locations in Chicago and maintains consistent, long-term staff. However, two negative reviews raise concerns about payment disputes, lack of injury explanations, and sudden care termination.
My daughter started attending the daycare when she was 9 months old & it was the best decision I made. The teachers are so sweet & you honestly get a very homey vibe. Not once have I ever questioned the care my daughter is getting because you can just tell that the teachers truly care about the children. I also very much like that it's like a smaller "private" daycare with not too many kids, therefore allowing more attention for the children. It's just a great place & I'm so happy that I found an amazing daycare for my munchkin.
This a wonderful center with a loving, caring staff. I love that it is bilingual, my daughter has developed a great vocabulary in both English and Spanish. I'm not sure what the negative comments are about, we never had any problems with the staff or late payments. They were always wonderful and we would still be there if we hadn't moved away from the neighborhood. I would highly recommend this center or their other location on Western Ave.
This is my 7th year with a child at El Ruiseñor, my first daughter being in Kindergarten now. We started in the first campus, and my second daughter just graduated to the new campus on Western, just south of Lunt. Needless to say, they both love it there. I feel a real sense of community, belonging, and respect there. My children have learned to speak Spanish even though we do not speak it at home, they know how to clean up after themselves (although they don't always), anf they know how to play well with other children. I love the organic food, the other parents, and the little activities they take my kids on. I pay in cash every week, and I have never encountered an issue there. My only constructive criticism would be that they can be a little disorganized when it comes to large events. A Saturday block party will be announced with only 5 days notice, so I have to cancel other plans if we want to attend, which we do. Their block parties are incredible, with petting zoo animals and bouncy houses, and community involvement. They really are wonderful. I trust them with my children completely. When one of my kids would fall or even have a scratch, they wold present me with a full, written report. I can't imagine having a better partner in raising my children. Oh, and the same teachers have been there since I started, Marta, Miguel, Gerardo, Maria, and Diana. All really caring and easy to talk to.
Spanish speaking (something I was looking for specifically), traditional values are instilled (politeness, taking turns, cleaning up after oneself, global awareness of world issues like saving water, recognition of things like women's day, etc). Feels like a clean warm and inviting home that was turned into a playroom in every room! Cute and flexible as well as affordable.
STAY AWAY!!! My toddler went here for only 3 months and there were nothing but problems with this day care center that is run out of this house. She doesn't like it when people don't pay in cash, and my daughter always had an injury of some sort with no explanation. When I asked her for a payment history in January for my income taxes, she started claiming that I was behind in payments, took pictures of my car and started calling the cops. I am a single mother of one little girl and I ended up losing my job because she found me inconvenient and decided to not care for my child without any notice.
