Our shy girl has thrived there! She surprises us everyday with new words and skills. After only a week of transition, she just walks right in! She naps wonderfully and for her that says a lot. The teachers and owners are kind and communicative. There are no bells and whistles, no apps or photos but that hasn’t bothered us. The owner Imma has been running the school for 25 years. You pack your own lunch but they provide two snacks.
Our daughter has been attending El Pilar for a 1.5 years and we've been so pleased with the experience. The owner is very sweet and attentive and most importantly, our daughter loves it there! Nothing makes me happier than seeing her so joyful at pick-up and drop-off. The teachers help acclimate her to the toddler class when she moved up (not to mention helping get her potty trained!) You might not get daily reports on bowel movements here, but you do get so much love and care for your children and their well-being. (Probably also worth noting, we have not had any sickness like I hear a lot of friends talk about at other daycares, that's been a real blessing too).
Our family has been lucky enough to have El Pilar in our community and to help nurture, educate and care for our two children. We have loved the team of educators and care givers at El Pilar, from the infant room up through preschool. I am satisfied with the communication, the facilities and the learning that has developed during our time here. Both kids love it and are now excellent spanish speakers!
We absolutely loved El Pilar School. The entire staff treated our daughter with so much love and care and we always felt safe with her there. She was joyful every day at drop off and pickup. We were so scared when we started her in daycare at just 4 months old, but immediately we could tell how much the staff cared for her and how well they took care of her. We only left El Pilar because we moved across town and couldn't make it work anymore and it broke our hearts to leave.
We have had both our kiddos at El Pilar since 2021. I feel very confident in their safety and well-being at this school. Not only are they well taken care of but they have both learned so much academically, socially, emotionally, and in their Spanish language development. El Pilar doesn’t have the fancy apps or Facebook accounts but each day Imma (the director) gives me a great overview of their day at pick up. In addition, my almost kindergartner comes home telling us great stories about his day. Both kiddos run into the building most days (of course not every day because they’re toddlers) which makes me know they are excited to be there. They also leave almost every day with an art project in hand. The classes have a set schedule and through giving the kid’s structure both of my boys have thrived. We are so ready for kindergarten and I know El Pilar has prepared him so well for this transition so he can go into his new elementary school with ease. Even if Spanish language is not the goal, I still highly recommend this school!
