Updated to reflect newest experiences with this location: Center manager has changed as well as the entire staff. Turn over is problematic and they don't have licensed teachers in each room. Are mostly running off substitutes. Unless you are in a dire situation I would wait and enroll publically elsewhere. I can't even describe how grateful I am to have found this Easter Seals Location. Staff is amazing, Mrs. Brandy my child's teacher is the absolute best and if there was a way to keep her moving up with him through EVERY grade I would do it hands down! Her Assistant Teacher Mrs. Courtney is/was amazing with my child, she let him shadow him when he gets overwhelmed. I always feel like they keep me informed so that we can work on things independently, she shares his successes and his areas that need improvement and when we come up with a course to take she follows through there. Mrs. Rhonda Canerday is doing an amazing job even though it is her first year as center director, and is overly gracious with the children and parents alike. Mr. Bill the fix-it man is a solid male presence in the school, something I think is very important he can be found helping out in classrooms, on the playground and actively engages the children if they are curious on his latest project! Mrs. Anna in the cafeteria is the most organized woman I know, and somehow my son eats better at school then he does at home. (I wish she would tell me her secrets). they also have Mrs. Angela in the FSA office who you can go to with ANY question...joke you not...she knows EVERYTHING. all in all I would love to keep my child here forever but alas one day we will have to move on. I recommend it so highly that my sister AND brother both enrolled their children here for next year!
I had an extremely bad experience. My son started off in early head start. He was with Teresa and Megan at first. AMAZING teachers. Then he was switched to Sarah and Karen's room. Wish I never let them switch him. Teresa and Megan had order in their room. Kids knew what to do and they did it. Helped themselves so they could start learning Independence. In Sarah and Karen's room there was no order and they was not allowed to help themselves because they would make a mess. I was told before hand that they believed in letting them learn the independence and that was not happening. When he was in Teresa and Megan class he would even clean up after himself at home. Once he was moved over he didn't do any of that anymore at home. Once he was moved to Sarah and Karen's room we started having a lot of issues. My son was still in the process of potty training. One day when I got him home I went to take his school clothes off and there was dried up, crusted POOP in his underwear, socks, and even his boots. We went and had a talk to the principal about it and it never happened again but it seemed like backlash started happening. Everyday after that when I would pick him up it was ALWAYS something negative. Never anything good said. He didn't wanna listen. He didn't wanna do this. He didn't wanna do that. He wouldn't listen to us read. Even when they couldn't find something to complain about it would be well he acted like Spiderman all day today. What 2 year old boy doesn't act like Spiderman? We had even had another employee there mention to us that they noticed how she was with my son compared to the other children in his class. We thought very hard about not letting him go back the next year for head start. We was reassured that he would be placed with really amazing teachers. I wanted my son to have the best education as possible so we agreed to let him go back as long as Karen would never be in the same room as him. If for some reason she was going to be to contact us and we would pick him up immediately. He was placed in Brandy and Diane room the next year.( This year) and it started off pretty good. Put as the days went on they started talking to me about his behavior so me and his father decided on our own to get him in to a therapist to see if he possibly had ADD or ADHD because every day I picked him up they wanted to say they believed heavily that's what the issue was. After a month or so of therapy they tested him and said it's possible that he could have it but wanted to wait and see if seeing a therapist would help. I personally believe the school wasn't happy about their educated advice. One day my son came home and I noticed he had red finger marks on his arm. We all asked him multiple times what happened. Everytime he said the same story. He was 3 at this time and anyone with a 3 year old knows that if they are telling a lie then the lie will change. His story NEVER changed. He said that Diane grabbed him by the arm. Me and his father went back up to the school to discuss this. They said they didn't know. Had a few different things said. Tried to say it was a kid but the marks was WAY to big for a kid. THERE IS NO REASON FOR ANYONE, ESPECIALLY AN ADULT, TO GRAB MY SON SO HARD THAT THE MARKS WAS THERE FOR DAYS. I was also informed at this time that on the play ground another child hit my child. I was never told when it happened and an incident report was never made. Which is THEIR policy. We asked to see the video footage from the time he got to school till the time he got off the bus. We was told there was no bus footage. Which is hard to believe. After many different excuses and many run around we STILL have not seen not even a second of footage. They told me someone watched it and didn't see anything but don't understand how they could watch from 8am till 3:30pm in less of that time. My son is due to start pre k this year and is absolutely terrified. He told me he is worried the teachers will be mean to him. Think twice before enrolling your child into this school. I would hate for this to happen to your kids.
My daughter went here for headstart she had a great year that year 2015-2016 I couldn't ask for a better teacher for her....then my son went to early headstart 2016-2017 and also had a great year and one of the best teachers there he loved her so much she helped in more then one way with him.
They have someone running the front desk who can’t answer any questions, when you ask for a manager she says she’s the only one there. So apparently people are paying for their kids not to be taken care of. By the way this lady speaks English so poorly you can’t understand what she says then blames you and says she can’t understand us.
