East End Ymca Child Care

From someone that has seen 20-25 YMCA gyms throughout the Midwest/NE US, I can say this location should be visited and reviewed by upper YMCA corporate management for facility conditions, cleanliness, services provided and gym equipment decision making. All processes seem subpar, facilities are poorly maintained for cleanliness (bathrooms in particular). There is excessive various cardio equipment that has taken over the weight room for specific items not needed and extravagant bikes with video games… etc….Instead of the weight room staple equipment, for example, lack of a traditional leg press, no incline bench, no decline bench, no glute bridge… and the new equipment purchased yearly is expensive yet cheap made Technogym which often breaks instead of the industry standard of nautilus, star trac, arsenal etc. Secondly, the pool locker rooms have 30+ year old carpet, broken stall doors and often presents as 20 degrees colder than the rest of the facility which makes for a real challenge getting small children excited for pool activities as they go through a 10 minute freeze before and after activities. There’s also been a lack of child watch services especially weekends for the last 6-8 months for reasons undisclosed. Additionally, a new functional training room full of similar and redundant cardio/calisthenic equipment from the already engrossed cardio equipment room has been created. I write this in hopes that sweeping changes are made as I have not seen positive growth of facilities, services or sensical decision making at this location since being a member in 5 years. It’s a shame, I hope this is a free wake up call to management and honest review by a caring member at this branch who wants to see positive changes for the better of the community. I’ll continue supporting this local branch, yet the majority of my time will be spent in Willoughby, 30min one way drive instead of the 5min location here.

Never did someone just kick me out the gym because I was wearing shoes she didn’t like. sad people do sad things. my shoes followed the guidelines and the manager gave me a card and said basically idk talk too this person good job Madison ymca

Pretty disappointing experience. My wife and I signed up about 7 days ago. She is pregnant and we were looking for an all in one location for gym, pool, and child services. The few times I went in there, after I signed up, it was not what I thought it would be. We decided this wasn’t a good fit but were denied a refund. I was able to cancel the membership but not after they took our money for the month and told us we couldn’t come back. I paid 80$ for maybe three visits to this location and a membership that barely lasted a week. I was hoping for some more generosity from a Christian organization but I did not find that at the YMCA. Would not recommend.

Went to the 2:30 - 6:30 open swim today. Had to wait until 3:15 to even get changed, due to an error in their scheduling. Upon taking me and my kids into the changing room, there were children from a school that were in the process of leaving. My kids were getting undressed In the changing room when some woman from the YMCA very rudely told us we needed to leave the changing area until the kids left. She rushed us out and my kids barely had time to get back in their clothing. When swimming, after about 45 minutes, we were told there was “lightning” in the area and therefore had to get out of the pool. We were waiting for my wife to bring our towels out of the women’s changing area because she accidentally left them in the bag we brought. We stood there roughly 1 minute and a life guard, who was very rude, locked the door so my wife could not get back to us, so we had to go in the men’s with no towels. Absolutely the most horrendous experience we have ever had at a YMCA. Extremely rude staff, our kids left sad from how they were treated. We will not be renewing our memberships and will take our patronage elsewhere.

Madison's east YMCA is a great place for your exercise needs. They have a lot of equipment to use and a pool. They have programs to coach you're workouts if you want. The people are really nice. Highly recommend
