I'm writing this post to share a difficult experience my family had at Headstart several years ago. While I truly valued the program and the many wonderful teachers there, I have been unable to forget an incident involving the director, Natalie, who is still employed there. During my daughter's time at the school, she was pinched by Natalie on two separate occasions. At the time, I was embarrassed and ashamed, which is why I never brought it up. I regret my silence, and now, I want other parents to be aware of my experience. It wasn't until I saw a relative of hers degrading another daycare that I felt empowered to finally speak my truth. To this day, my daughter still remembers the incidents. When we drive past the building, she still brings it up. It's a reminder of a time when she was hurt and I didn't speak up. Please be aware of this past behavior. I am sharing this so that other parents can be mindful of who is caring for their children.
I would not recommend this headstart to my friends or family. My concerns were never addressed- I had one conversation with the director and she was supposed to get back with me and follow up but I never received a response. There was an inconsistent approach to classroom management, inconsistent discipline methods, our class lead teacher definitely needed more training, which equals a chaotic environment for the kids. There was no communication of classroom activities or curriculum. My child who is usually happy to go to school was no longer excited about his day and that was a major red flag for me. I moved on from the headstart at Easley Bridge road immediately and thankfully so..
My daughter who is three was hit so hard in the face that it left bruising and a scratch. This was the second time this had taken place and to make matter worst it was on her face both times. I was never contacted either time and had to find it out when my daughter was picked up. I ask my daughter what happened and she gave me specific information. When I contacted the center Director I was told Dianna never told...... Hmmmm you mean to tell me a child that doesn't get spanked was hit and it was hard enough to leave a bruised spot on her face and she didn't cry and no one knew. This was a joke.....If you lie about that what else would you lie about?????? I took her oit immediately! I do not give a recommendation for any child to attend. They also change staff like they do clothes.... Never the same staff twice!
