What Parents Say
Early Start Child Care has extremely polarized reviews with strong opinions on both sides. Four parents gave 5-star ratings, praising the staff, communication, small class sizes, and child development. However, three parents gave 1-star ratings, citing staffing shortages, mixed age groups, safety concerns, poor hygiene practices, unprofessional management, and inadequate facilities.
My son loves it here he’s been going here now 2 years he loves the teachers i like that i receive photos and videos throughout the day on their app i check in and see how his day is going. I can easily send a message and get a quick response. The owners are very nice/professional and understanding. I love the classroom sizes because my child is able to get taken care of more personally He has became so independent since starting here. The teachers I’ve met are always smiling and always greet me at pickup and drop off and good at communicating how his day was. He’s grown so much since being here. Would recommend to anyone looking for childcare
My nieces attend Early Start prior to my brother and his family moving his family to VA due to the military. Whenever I had to pick the girls up, I was always greeted warmly by the staff. Not to mention my nieces loved their teachers. You know this when they wanted to stay longer or ran to give their teachers a huge hug before leaving. As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child, I know my family is glad Early Start was a part of ours.
Avoid having your child attend this daycare as a favor to yourself. It is really unprofessional and not a place where children can play safely. They have an inadequate number of employees and a high turnover rate. Particularly in the younger class area, the rooms are really cramped. Only two rooms were available/open at the time, and the two teachers they do have are usually out of ratio. They have 1s and 2s in the same classroom, and they cry all day long. Ages 3 to 7 are present in the second classroom. I object to the mixing of preschool, prek, and school-age children. The older classroom teacher yells at the students throughout the day, and the new toddler/twos teacher has no prior experience working with children in a childcare setting. Additionally, they don't use gloves when cooking or preparing meals for the kids or when changing diapers, and they do not sanitize toys or tables. The center is in a bad area, parking for parents is terrible, and I felt unsafe. It’s definitely not clean on the inside and outside on the children's playground area, and quite frequently, I am not sure how they are even still operating. The two female owners and directors are very unprofessional and unpleasant. If I could have given it a zero star, I would!
