What Parents Say
Early Foundations Children's Academy receives overwhelmingly positive reviews praising the director Wendy, caring staff, safe environment, and strong academic outcomes. One recent negative review describes inadequate support for a toddler with behavioral challenges and frustration with how the situation was handled.
This is my truth; I would not recommend this daycare or school. The way the director handled my son's situation did not align with the school's mission, which claims to promote diversity, allow students to grow at their own pace, and help them achieve success. Instead of helping behavioral kids improve, this school chooses to remove them. My son started in September 2025, but it only lasted two months. He was 27 months old when we decided to disenroll him, and it felt like we were forced to do so. September started off well, and I was hopeful this daycare was right for him. In October, however, there were many reported behavioral issues, and he was sent home almost every day he attended. He was only enrolled part-time on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. It started with biting. Apparently, there was no way to redirect or stop him, even though it happened right in front of the teachers’ feet. This lasted two weeks. After that, it was hitting for a week, then throwing toys. We couldn’t find the reason why he was doing this at school but not at home. Every conversation I had with the teacher or director was different, and their stories conflicted. The teachers would say his behavior was appropriate for his age, but the director would say the same thing, then add that my son should know better by now. As a first-time mom, it’s hard to hear that my son is causing harm to other students. I could only do so much at home, and he was not doing these things there. When asked, there were many excuses: -he’s overstimulated, language barrier, lack of communication, he’s not around many 2-year-olds and at home it’s only mom and dad, he’s doing it all unprovoked, he would be a better fit in a smaller classroom with one-on-one support, there is no way of stopping him and if he wants something he just goes for it, why are we denying speech therapy (when the director did not know that when we spoke with the NorCal consultant, she said we could add it if the evaluator felt my son needed it, and as parents we did not feel he had a speech issue for his age), we budgeted to bring in another teacher to help, which didn’t happen until a week before his disenrollment because I told them we were meeting with the NorCal referral people and were trying to make it work until then. My son started a new daycare a week after leaving Early Foundation, and he is doing great there. It wasn't all my son's doing, because two other students from his class at Early Foundation also joined after my son left. This shows they are not equipped to handle behavioral problems as they claim, and it’s sad how easily they give up on a toddler. When I asked about a partial refund since my son did not attend the whole month of October, which I paid for out of pocket and not with any assistance, the director said no. Even though he was not there, he was sent home for bad behavior and kept a spot another child could have had. That, to me, shows it is all about business and greed. I did get a refund for Halloween, when I kept my son home because I was sure they didn't want him there anymore. Even depositing that refund felt embarrassing. We continued with the NorCal parent-infant program referral, just to give us some ease as first-time parents. All the consultants who came to evaluate my son said there was nothing wrong and that he didn’t qualify for any assistance. So, if you are looking for a place that can handle many 2-year-olds and actually has the patience to help them grow, this is not the place!
I can’t say enough good things about Early Foundations and their director, Wendy. My son went Early Foundations from infancy through pre-K. He is now in kindergarten and testing in the top 95th percentile in reading and 90th in math. My niece is in the two‘s classroom and with the school’s diligence to give every child what they need, she was able to get a speech services as a toddler and is doing amazing. The director and the teachers pour everything into these children. They only want what is best for them. If a smaller environment or services were suggested it is because they do truly care what’s best for each individual child. There’s nowhere else I would have wanted my child to go. He was in a caring, loving environment that taught him empathy and kindness, as well as gave him a great education.
We truly love Early Foundations. The teachers care for our child like their own, and the leadership is thoughtful, supportive, and proactive. They went above and beyond by helping place a referral for our son to receive physical therapy, which meant more to us than we can put into words. We are incredibly grateful for the care, attention, and heart they show our family.
This place is the best! We spent a lot of time researching a preschool for our son and so glad we choose Early Foundations. We have had nothing but positive experiences. Wendy really goes above and beyond in making sure the kids have a friendly, structured and safe environment. Our son has moved on to kindergarten and leaving here was bittersweet! You won't be disappointed with Early Foundations!
My son started when he was 2. He graduated this year 2016. He and I both struggled the first few months:) he was my first child and everything was so new. Wendy and her team we're incredible. The facility is safe, staff is very friendly and approachable. They communicate with the families well. My son enjoyed his time there and we both will miss this school! Thank you so much!!!
