What Parents Say
Building Kidz of San Mateo is highly praised by parents for its caring, family-like atmosphere and strong leadership under Director Kay. The center offers excellent value with reasonable tuition, provided meals, and a well-rounded curriculum featuring performing arts, music, and dance. Parents consistently report that their children thrive socially and academically in this welcoming environment.
Building Kidz truly became a second home for our daughter. From day one, the communication was thoughtful and reassuring, and the classrooms were always clean and well cared for, which gave us so much peace of mind as parents. Luvia cared for our daughter with so much patience and love, and our daughter genuinely loved being here — something every parent hopes for. Kay, the director, was incredibly kind and supportive and helped make our transition easier during a big change for our family. We are so thankful for the care, trust, and love our daughter received and would wholeheartedly recommend Building Kidz to other families 🤍
Our older daughter went there from 3-4 and our younger daughter started at 18 months. The entire staff is so supportive and invested in the kid’s development. We love the variety of early academics, play, and focus on music/dance/theater. Our older daughter was very shy but was always so comfortable there. The director Kay is invested in every child and puts on many family events so you really feel included on everything that goes on there. We love the frequent picture updates posted on the app each day.
Finding this preschool was such a blessing! It checked off all my boxes of initial criteria and on top of that, now that we have been here over a year the teachers have become like family! My criteria: Hours: The school is open from 7 am to 6pm which is great for accommodating most work schedules. Food is provided!!: SO much stress off my plate that I don't need to prep for daily snacks or lunch since they are provided, even milk! Age group: I wanted to find somewhere that accepted 18 mo olds as most schools start at 2 yrs old. We also preferred bigger class settings vs private home care/daycare so our kids could learn to interact and socialize with similar aged peers. Location: Is great! Right on and off the 101 freeway (although every now and then the surface street traffic gets a little congested in the afternoon which can make pick up a little stressful if I get out of work a little later than normal) People: When we started over a year ago, it was under a different director, who was very nice. And then for whatever reason within a couple months or so, we had a new director step in and we weren't sure how things were going to go, but Director Kay is amazing! She's so involved with the students and parents and is constantly looking into how to improve everything around the school, both big and small details! You can really feel her energy! ALL the teachers are so friendly and patient with the kids and I hear my kids excited to share the new things they learn every day! My son's current teacher is teacher Sammah, who is so great and you can really feel her passion to teach and inspire. My older daughter (who has recently left since she started public school) had teacher Elisa, who is such a fun and warm-hearted teacher! We also love teacher Luvia, teacher Kiki, teacher Cado, and teacher Carla even though our kids are not in their specific classes. Every day when we go home, my kids give them ALL hugs goodbye since the school is just like one big family! Cost: Surprisingly on the lower end! 🙌 I love this school, even though my son is now two yrs old (and therefore we have more options of daycares/preschools that are closer to our home), we still choose to drive a little further so we can stay with this wonderful school!
I have been the been the picture man for Building Kidz Of San Mateo for several years now and have seen an incredible change in the overall structure and happiness of the children that attend the school over the past year. Ms. Kay, the director, is so pleasant and very active in each classroom. It is obvious how much the teachers in every class care about the children, they are engaged and teaching from the beginning of the day on. There is singing and interaction, it is a delight. It is a family atmosphere and the children are polite and happy and that was not always the case before Ms. Kay became the director. I photograph 100's of child care centers a year and I highly suggest Building Kidz Of San Mateo for your child.
I have brought my granddaughter to this location and super impressed with the staff. The teachers are knowledgeable and genuinely care for the lil ones! The director is always happy and makes you feel welcome. I am excited for their new theatre production, The Wizard of Oz, coming in November. Nothing better than seeing your kids performing on stage!
