What Parents Say
Terramar Elementary receives mixed reviews with strong praise from elementary parents but significant concerns from middle school families. While some parents report good communication, caring teachers, and positive experiences, others cite serious issues including bullying, poor administrative response, inconsistent scheduling, and excessive homework.
This school caused me ptsd when I was younger, actual ptsd and trauma I was assaulted please don’t put ur kids in here the communication is horrible they allow bullying there’s staff abuse and ect I was a child at the time.
I attended this school from 4th grade to 8th grade. Admin Staff: were rude, had bad communication, and were always aggressive and passive aggressive. VP/P: The Vice Principle and Principle were wonderful. Understanding, and just generally great staff. Schedule: Odd, every Friday has 90 minutes taken off the schedule, but as a former student it's nice because we would all gather and hangout at the McDonald's and QT across the street from the school. Teachers: Some bad, some good. For a public school in Arizona, they're on the better side ... however. During my years attending the school, teachers had a tendency to get fired or resign. If your child attends this school, expect a potential for a long-term substitute that will teach the class. One teacher resigned for sexual behavior and language to and about students. Take that how you will. Student Behavior: Not the worst, the school is generally chillax, and not too much physical drama happens. OVERALL: I enjoyed attending Terramar for the most part, I think your child may enjoy it, and your child can gain a healthy social life and educational prowess from attending this school. It's one of the better Arizona public schools.
Not sure what these other reviewers are on about. The school is well run with the same level of communication I would expect from most schools. The work load varies by age but seems appropriate to me. For example my 1st grader has about 15 minutes of homework and my 2nd grader has about 30 per night with no homework assigned on Friday's. The early releases are both emailed and auto called to parents who registered their cell and email. My kids have been here for years with no reports of bullying or really any complaints. Both the teachers and administration are doing their jobs.
Very complicated school, they give kids more homework from when I was a kid. Be prepared 3-4hours of homework work. Teachers have attitudes and the student pick up and drop off is a nightmare. Front office staff are always very nice.
These kids have more early release in 1 semester, than I had my entire scholastic career. I know teaching isn’t easy, but their formula over there is not one that will create scholars or future Nobel prize winners
