Got a membership about 2 months ago. I had a membership for a few years a while back and I loved it but moved states, cancelled membership, moved back recently and ALOT has changed. When I came in to the front desk to get a membership it took 15 minutes of listening to the staff chit chat amongst themselves (which seems to be a theme) before anyone helped me (even after they looked at me multiple times standing there OBVIOUSLY waiting for them). Did the walk through and the person seemed rushed while talking to me but talked to other staff members about their plans after work just fine. I let all of this go but as I’ve been coming back to do classes and swim I’ve noticed this stuff is an everyday occurrence. Front desk is particularly really bad at greeting people coming in. When I brought a friend so she can get a day pass we stood there waiting while they talked amongst themselves AGAIN. As for my classes: cycling class is PERFECT, my friends spoke highly of the aerial yoga for her kid but the adult yoga classes? It’s not peaceful. The room is nice if you can ignore ALLLLLLL of the writing all over all of the mirrors. I felt like I was in elementary class. It makes me feel distracted rather than at peace. The actual teaching of yoga is a 6/10 based off of the classes I’ve taken before. And the room STINKS of the dry erase marker. Not sweat, not feet. The marker fumes. Giving it a couple more weeks to see if anything gets better but so far? Missing the old DRC. As for the building: it’s pretty clean and nice, lots of kids with no parents running around (as to be expected but no staff interference if they’re doing things they shouldn’t. For example: throwing food, playing in the bathrooms, etc). And a few staff members have been very helpful. The weight gym is pretty crowded at all times but again, I understand.
I stopped yesterday to ask questions and check out their swimming pool area. The individual who greeted me was Vanessa and she was amazing. She answered my questions, gave additional information about the facility, and provided a brochure. She has phenomenal customer service skills, is very professional and awesome to visit with...That alone sold me on using them. PS the facility is absolutely amazing...
I have only visited this location for my physical therapy through Mid-America Orthopedics. The facility was very clean and the floor plan was open and easy to find what you're looking for. They use small signs hanging from the ceiling for temporary use spaces (like my therapy) so be on the lookout for those to find what you're needing.
Excellent youth sports leagues. Just another reason everyone not from Derby wishes they were from Derby.
Small to moderate sized weight area but usually not too busy. Upper track, bball courts and large swimming pool. Reasonably priced membership.
