What Parents Say
Day Timers Day School in Owings Mills receives overwhelmingly positive feedback, with most parents praising the caring staff, happy children, and daily photo updates. However, one parent reported concerns about their child's weight loss, inconsistent staff behavior, and a one-size-fits-all curriculum approach, though they acknowledged the facility kept their child safe.
Our first son attended Daytimers from 5 months to 2 1/2 years old. The only reason we took him out was because our second son came along and I became a stay at home mom. My son never developed any sort of separation anxiety because he was always happy to go to Daytimers each morning! The teachers create a fun & loving atmosphere. They provide updates throughout the day along with cute photos via an app. Daytimers provides all food starting at 18 months which is amazing for busy parents! No packing lunchboxes!! They even helped us potty train when our son was the only kiddo in his class out of diapers! We have never, in 2 years, had any sort of issue or concern. We also got the feeling that management truly cares. We are so grateful to Daytimers for providing affordable yet high quality care for our son. I couldn’t recommended Daytimers more.
The facility provides a reasonably safe environment for children. While they claim to offer food, we noticed our child consistently lost weight during their time there. Both their learning and physical development seemed to stagnate. The staff is a mix—some teachers are very kind, while others can be a bit harsh with the children. The curriculum follows a one-size-fits-all approach, which may not cater to every child's needs. The owner can occasionally display inappropriate anger, which isn't ideal in a setting with young children. Do I regret enrolling my child there? No. However, I do wish I had explored other options that might have been a better fit for our child’s development. Overall, no hard feelings—the place did keep our child safe for the most part. For working parents seeking a secure environment, it’s not a bad choice. ***** response to the owner -- Thank you for your response. While we appreciate that our child was kept in a safe environment and had access to various activities, we are disappointed by the defensiveness in your reply rather than a genuine acknowledgment of the concerns raised. The issue was never about how many servings were given but whether the meals provided were nutritionally sufficient. Weight loss in young children is a serious concern, and dismissing it by suggesting parents should have sent extra food shifts responsibility rather than addressing a potential problem within the facility. As for feedback, not all parents feel comfortable raising concerns in the moment—especially if they anticipate a dismissive response. That does not make these concerns any less valid. A truly great childcare facility is one that listens, reflects, and actively works to improve rather than deflecting criticism. Thanks for checking on their progress. They are doing great and are already able to read proficiently. Their development, both physically and academically, has progressed at a rate we could have only dreamed of. While we do not regret our time there, we sincerely hope that these issues are taken seriously for the well-being of future children.
We have bern sending our son there since he was 3 months old. The staff is amazing! My son smiles and is happy whenever I drop him off. I love the picture updates throughout the day.
My son has been here since he was 9 months old - he's now almost 2 and a half years old and I can't imagine sending him anywhere else! I love the staff and it's clear they adore the kids. I cannot recommend them highly enough!!
My 23 month old grandson loves going here. He is well taken care of and seems to be learning a lot, too. The ladies are all very kind (and helpful to us grandmas).
