What Parents Say
Parents consistently praise Dandelion Nursery School as a magical, nurturing environment where children thrive emotionally and academically. The school is distinguished by highly skilled and caring teachers, a play-based curriculum, and a strong cooperative community model that builds lasting family connections.
Dandelion truly feels like a magical place for children to grow, explore, and belong. My daughter wakes up asking, "Is it a preschool day? because she genuinely loves being there. The environment is a beautiful blend of cozy indoor spaces and outdoor adventures. From caring for chickens and fish to discovering the edible garden, making music, creating art, and climbing the beloved dome, every day is a good day at Dandelion. What makes Dandelion even more special are the teachers. They are exceptionally thoughtful, nurturing, and truly see each child for who they are. Outside of the classroom, the sense of community we've found here has brought warmth, connection, and lasting friendships into our family's life. We feel so lucky to be part of this wonderful preschool!
Dandelion is a magical place. My son absolutely thrived there. He felt safe, happy, and loved, and this allowed him the space to grow in every way possible! The teachers (Abby, Sabrina, and Karin) are all wonderful- they have impressive patience, deep knowledge, and boundless love to give. At first the co op participation model was a little daunting, but it quickly became something I enjoyed. Participation allows you to really spend time with the kids, teachers, and fellow parents, and also to see your child in a unique way that isn't possible with typical schooling models. I've looked into other co op schools, due to a move, and can tell you that there truly is no place like Dandelion. I would choose it over, and over again.
Our family LOVES Dandelion! The teachers are sensational: infinitely patient, caring, and with such extensive experience supporting little ones who are coming into their own in the world. When he first started here, my four year old had a hard time controlling his body when he was frustrated, and all of the teachers supported him in being in touch with his feelings while also learning to stay safe around other kiddos. The difference even just a few months at Dandelion made in him was huge. I feel like co-ops are often praised for being inexpensive financially and for being tight-knit communities, both of which are very true of Dandelion-- while you're not expected to dive deeper into the community beyond your responsibilities as a parent volunteer, you will probably want to because of how wonderful the people are. Everyone helps take care of everyone. And the teachers are there to help show new parents (new to parenting or new to the co-op model) the way. This was the part of joining Dandelion that I wasn't expecting: as participants in the classroom, I and the other parents were trained in how to support the kids through things like conflict resolution, or the challenges of making new friends or learning how to serve their own snack and pour their own glass of water. That skill set was invaluable to me as a new parent myself, and when my son first started having other kids over for playdates. And because I knew all the other parents and volunteered alongside them, playdates were easy to coordinate because we were already in community with each other! If you are lucky enough to end up at Dandelion, not only will you and your kiddo be welcomed into a beautiful, caring community where your whole family will grow in learning how to support little ones (all while saving money), you'll also get to witness the magic of a play-based curriculum. It was absolutely incredible to see how much the kiddos learned week to week, from independent skills like cleaning up after themselves and learning how to participate at circle time, to exercising their agency in deciding what projects they'd want to work on that morning or afternoon, and who they wanted to work with. The teachers are nothing short of masterful when it comes to gently supporting the kids' growth edges while letting the kids lead the way. I loved seeing the kids create little shops for their mud pies, or learn to take turns on the tire swing, or gather around as one of the older kids read them a book (which inspired my son to learn to read). I wholeheartedly recommend this wonderful school and community to anyone looking for childcare for their little one paired with a magical learning experience and welcoming community involvement for the whole family!
Dandelion is an excellent nursery school. The teachers are incredible and the community is fantastic. Our child has really flourished there and is always excited to go.
This is the most amazing preschool. We found our people and community for our child and our family. The school is the most magical space, where kids can create, play and learn. The teachers teach not only the children, but the parents, on how to empower and trust our children to become the special people they are.
