We had such a fantastic time at the Dalton Gang Hideout! The history itself is fascinating, but what truly made the experience memorable was Nancy. She gave me the most engaging presentation—full of details, stories, and humor—that brought the Wild West to life. Nancy didn’t just tell the history, she painted the picture of what it was like when the Dalton Gang used this very spot and their escape tunnel. You could tell she has a real passion for sharing the story, and she kept me hooked from start to finish. If you visit (and you definitely should!), I highly recommend catching Nancy’s presentation. It was the highlight of my trip!
Must see. They give you alot of infomation before you emery go through the museum.
If you know and like history concerning the early American West you will absolutely like this quick stop. The employee I talked to was very nice and helpful and the fact that you get to walk where one of the most notorious Western gangs walked, is pretty cool. Very cool artifacts and buildings plus a pretty neat little museum. Great, quick stop to learn about the history of our country in the wild wild West 🏇.
We went through Meade KS, just so we could visit the hide out! It was worth the drive. The man running the museum was so interesting! Not only did he know so much about the gang, and what happened "back in the day", but we found his stories about the Air Force and the Top Gun academy so fascinating. We could have spent all day here, talking to him. We enjoyed talking to him so much, we forgot to take any pictures or ask his name! The tunnel was very cool - and the historical displays show you what life back then was like.
Stopped here looking for a place to let dogs out for a quick potty stop and saw the sign for Dalton Hideout. Didn't think anything about it until we got closer and a sign said "Dalton Gang Hideout"! It was after hours but we were able walk our dogs and imagine what happened here. We love this kind of stuff!! It looks like Meade is very proud of their town's role in our history as this area is well cared for.
