What Parents Say
Parents consistently praise CCNS as an exceptional play-based preschool with highly educated, caring teachers who foster a strong sense of community. The school emphasizes child-centered learning through outdoor exploration, creative activities, and imaginative play in a well-organized campus environment. Families report lasting friendships and meaningful educational experiences for both children and parents.
CCNS is magical. The teachers are incredibly well-educated in early childhood development and they have an ability to make each child feel seen, heard, and valued. The parent and family community here is a gem, lasting long beyond the time our kids are students in the classes. Kids have so many options for play-based learning, interactions from supportive adults, and opportunities to work thoughtfully through social interactions. I wish there was a CCNS from preschool through 12th grade :)
This school appears to be very well organized. All documents and records are kept in an orderly manner, and its stated philosophy is not to label children and to be inclusive of all children, including those who cry or become emotional. However, in reality, this is not the case. First, the teacher-to-student ratio is extremely poor. Compared with other schools, their toddler class has a ratio of 1:24. Second, the toddler class teacher, Kate, is not a fair teacher and treats children differently. She talks extensively about educational philosophies, but in practice she only does what she wants—managing parents and carefully arranging circle time—without building real relationships with the children. My child was bitten at school. The biting child attempted to grab a toy, failed, and then bit my child. The biting child’s parent immediately took their child to speak with the teacher. The teacher stood there discussing the incident with that parent while watching my child cry, yet did not come over to check my child’s injury at all. Only after they finished chatting did the teacher come and ask me, “Are you okay?” At this developmental stage, it is normal for children to fight or grab toys from each other. However, it seems that the child who cries the loudest gets rewarded, while my child—who was hit but did not cry—was instead required to be “observed” at the request of the child who cried the loudest. Please review their student turnover rate. Data does not lie and is the most truthful evidence. The principal, Jennie, is a very kind person, and the only class my friends recommend is Jennie’s preschool class. I hope this review helps future families considering enrollment, because I myself was once blinded by their five-star ratings.
We love this school. I enrolled my daughter during pandemic and they provided online class and toy/art material pick up day. Their art activities are process oriented, creative and fun. We had so much fun things together even while we stuck at home. Their play area is big and safe enough to have a whole morning session when in person class started. All the teachers are loving, caring and patient. They always use positive words that has a magic to solve the problems. Not only my daughter I enjoy the school. I feel fortunate to be a part of this community that care about each other especially during pandemic. I strongly recommend this school!
The minute you walk through the doors of CCNS you can feel the magic of what an amazing school it is. The campus is a hidden gem for your children to explore, learn and make life long friends. Not only will you and you’re children fall in love with amazing teachers but also the play based way of learning. There is so much for your kids to discover from art, music, science, gardening, wood work and animals! Sensory stations for the children to feel and play structures for your child to gain balance and physical awareness that their growing bodies crave. Personally, I am so grateful I enrolled my son to this school and will forever hold the memories made near and dear to my heart. I highly recommend this school!!!
When my children were old enough for nursery school I made the rounds to learn about nursery schools. I’d been a 3rd grade teacher but knew little about younger children’s schools. But I noticed something right away. At some children were sitting at desks, trying to use pencils and quiet. I shivered at the sight. When I visited the Cupertino co-op nursery, I saw children outside standing at easels and painting a large brushes filled with color. Some were running and chasing each other and laughing and pretending to fly. Some sat in an old boat and pretended to be taking a trip. Others were pumping away on the swing set, and others testing out the old trikes I felt invigorated just watching. This was what I wanted for my children, I felt without even have consciously thought about it. There were separate rooms in the little house. A place for art , a corner for music and a room filled with old clothes and shoes where the little ones could play dress up and be mommies and daddies. My son sometimes dressed up in fancy girls dresses and at first I’ll admit it worried me. Ginny one of the wise teachers the teacher talked w me about it kindly and helped me
