What Parents Say
This facility appears to be a substance abuse treatment center, not a daycare. Positive reviews from graduates cite life-changing recovery outcomes and long-term sobriety. Negative reviews cite poor staff attitudes, inadequate treatment services, excessive chores, unsanitary conditions including bed bugs and lice, and lack of support for residents' needs.
Every person has their own opinion. My opinion this place was horrible. The workers talk down to you they cussed every one of those girls were there because they had to be to keep their kids over to stay out of jail they didn't take it serious. I I went cuz I needed help they did not detox me they didn't give me phone printed images nothing! People stole my stuff. The difference is I went because I put myself in not one of those girls put their self in. I went and told the staff that the girls were sniffing pins nothing was done if you want help because you need it yourself don't go here because these girls had no choice I had a choice.
From the outside of new directions treatment center it looks like a decent place for recovery, but unfortunately not the woman working the front desk. I was dropping off a child to a scheduled visit with a resident of this program. The staff member had me waiting for the resident outside with no words why for a very long time. And then proceeded to tell me to reschedule with no explanation. When I asked why do I need to reschedule the child’s visit, this staff member was very rude, she seemed upset or annoyed to explain anything simple to me. Instead of explaining to me nicely that the resident is on a phone call, she calls her supervisor saying that I am arguing with her and puts the phone on speaker for the supervisor to tell me instead. And then the staff member tells me I have an attitude. I think this was all very much uncalled for and this staff member needs to remember to have patience and talk with respect especially in front of children. And I hope the staff members don’t treat the residents like the way I was treated by the woman at front desk, since they are on their recovery journey. They need positivity and patience and respect to!
I am still sober to this day... April 1st, 2025 will be 25 years, not going to lie... it's not easy to get back on the right track of sobriety and life itself. Thank you New Directions for not just believing in me but for giving me so much more to living life on life terms. Michelle (Micky) Andresen Gentry
I graduated New Directions Sept 1995 its the GREATEST thing that could have happened in my life was to make the decision change my life, I'm clean today and 30 yrs and counting.
. For starters, the “air” was kept between 78-80 in august. With that being said, we are not allowed to wear tank tops or shorts above the knee or open toed shoes. Being a child in foster care qualifying for ab12 i would get housing for graduating high school, whole 2+ months i was there they were “working on it”. In the breaking barriers class i was not able to work in the problems i needed to due to the counselors own personal preference. HOURS: frequently given after double scrub after the facility is sparkling clean combing the carpet with a paper clip cut micro scraps of paper cinderella the baseboards there’s the occasional staff that needs a bowl washed by their favorite now mowing the grass great watering the lawn cool raking leaves fantastic i’ve even scrubbed a rock for 3 hours. Now i may have given this place a decent review if they hadn’t cut up pieces of cake and ate if in front of our faces with “alumni” and offered us granola bars. I had “too many appointments at all the wrong times, court too often” and the only resentment was hold is toward that place
