This school committed a FERPA violation by giving my sons personally identifiable information to a "behavioral therapist", who is not a psychologist, without our consent. The therapist said my son did not need a diagnosis! In a nutshell, this school gave out my sons information to someone who is not even a medical provider to get treatment for no reason? Smells like this school might be getting a kickback from the providers that they are too eager to give out your child's information to. They push way too hard for therapy without having had any formal education or training to make such recommendations. My sister has a masters in psychology and has worked in behavioral therapy with kids for years; she has never raised any concerns about my son. I would not recommend this school, take your kids where they will be treated like kids. Response to Creativa: On Monday last week, my sons teacher made a comment about his behavior and recommended therapy. My wife just to waive off the concern, told the teacher to send my wife information. The teacher instead gave my wifes phone number to a therapist without her consent. The therapist then proceeded to contact us and when I asked how she got the information, she lied and said my wife had talked to her. The therapist texted my wife first, only one inference can be made, creativa gave my sons personally identifiable information to a third party without my consent nor my wives. THAT IS A FERPA VIOLATION and a complaint has been filed with DoEd.
