Parents consistently praise the warm, nurturing environment, experienced staff with excellent retention, creative curriculum focused on nature and art, and on-site home-cooked meals. Children show significant developmental gains in language, social skills, and academic learning.
Covesville Child Development Center is a warm and welcoming day care center for kids from 16 months until Pre-K. Our two year old has been very happy here. The facility is not the fanciest in the world--it's in a church basement--but the teachers are incredibly warm and creative. They even have a teacher who makes breakfast and lunch for the kids every day! My son is always happy to go to "school" and always happy when I pick him up. I definitely recommend this place for a safe and nurturing day care.
I was extremely nervous about sending my 16 month old to preschool/daycare and visited many centers before deciding on CCDC, and every day I am thankful for the decision. If you are looking for a place that provides a safe and nurturing environment, while focusing on creative play, nature, art, and social skills, I encourage you to consider CCDC! We love the staff (which has had zero turnover in over a year that we have been there) and the individuallized attention all the kids are given. A typical day might involve going on a nature walk and checking on the growing baby geese at the pond, and then coming back and doing art projects and making up songs about various things they discovered on the walk. What I love most about CCDC is the warm relationships staff develop with students, which is not just limited to their main teacher. There are seperate classes according to age, but if my daughter wants to do a project with the older friends, or needs some quiet time away from the groups, she is able to do so, and has great relationships with all the staff at the school. Home cooked meals by Miss Yvonne are also a hit. I can't say enough about the experienced, warm, creative staff at CCDC and the way my child has thrived and learned there.
Our son went to Covesville Child Development Center for about 3 years. It is a wonderful nurturing place for a young child. I always felt that he was safe and taken care of. His learning skyrocketed while attending the center. He is very full of energy and they were always able to channel that energy into learning. When my child started he was not potty trained. The teachers there jumped right in to help with his potty training. What a relief that was!! The food is made there on site and sometimes made from scratch. They always put emphasis on using nutritious foods like fruits and vegetables. You will not find a better place for the money. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great learning and nurturing environment for your child.
Covesville Child Development Center is dedicated to the growth and well being of the children that they care for. They work closely with the parents to ensure that the children (and the parents) are getting as much from the program as possible. My child looks forward to going to school and is excited to tell me all about her day afterwards. I value the options they have to allow my child to attend full time or part time, which gives me flexibility in my schedule from month to month, if needed. I recommend CCDC for a family type environment where children can grow and learn.
My husband and I love CCDC. 3 of our 4 children have attended CCDC and it would have been all 4 had CCDC existed when we had our 1st child. We have previous experience with two other day care centers in Charlottesville (one of which is quite expensive) and have found CCDC to be the best choice for our children. It's a little out-of-the way for us but so worth it. The things I love about CCDC: Meals prepared by loving hands (and I mean GOOD meals), nurturing caregivers, safe environment, great academic lessons, life lessons, and a fun and positive place to be. CCDC is a special place for children and my husband and I never think twice about leaving our children there.
