What Parents Say
Covenant Cooperative Nursery School receives predominantly positive reviews praising warm, nurturing teachers, play-based curriculum, and safe facilities. However, multiple recent reviews express serious concerns about the school's handling of children with emotional regulation issues, with parents reporting their young children were dismissed from the program.
What a gem of a preschool! We love this school and can’t say enough great things about it. We love the focus on play, time outdoors, and how they foster curiosity and a love of learning for kids. My kids have always felt safe, loved, and comfortable at CCNS and speak highly of their friends and teachers. Teachers take the time to know and understand each child. Love the extended day option as well!
My son, a 3 year joined this school last year in 2024-2025. I had high hopes because I had gone there myself for preschool, and my mother had taught there as well. My son is a very kind, affectionate but emotional and sensitive boy. He has never laid his hands on anyone, and acts in kindness towards others even when frustrated. He was expected to be a perfect student at 3 years old. When he got upset or overstimulated, he would cry and take quite a while to calm down. Because of this he was KICKED OUT of school and was completely heartbroken. He LOVED his teacher Mrs. Susie, and all of his friends, and didn’t understand why he wasn’t allowed anymore. So unless you have a perfect child I don’t recommend this school.
You expect educators to be trained to accommodate children, instead they turn children away, as young as three years old. If I could give this place negative stars, I would. A friend's child, who is the absolute sweetest boy, was kicked out because of his emotional regulation issues, sometimes taking a bit longer to calm down after getting upset or overstimulated. As an adult who has emotional regulation issues, I can't believe they would do this and ultimately make him feel like he's a problem rather than using it as an opportunity to teach him healthy coping skills. Taking him away from the friends he's made and the teachers he's grown fond of is not the answer and I just can't wrap my mind around it.
My grandson who never hurt anyone but had emotional regulation issues but was kind was kicked out. The teachers may need more training in helping special needs children.
My husband went to CCNS 30 years ago, and in September, our son started his first year there. Three decades later, the school continues to demonstrate its excellence. The teachers and staff work consistently to a high standard, providing the best quality care to their students, and prioritize what is in the best interest of the children. In addition to affordable tuition and several scheduling options, the teachers make themselves readily available to answer any questions both on/off school days as well as after hours. As a parent, I greatly appreciate the atmosphere of continuous dialogue and find high importance in knowing how my child is doing while I’m not there. I find CCNS to be an enormous gift and I highly recommend families to consider registering their children at the school. You will not be disappointed.
