What Parents Say
Countryside Child Care receives mostly positive reviews praising the staff's attentiveness, kindness, and communication through daily reports. However, several serious concerns have been raised including alleged incidents of physical discipline by the owner, unexplained injuries to a child, and recent staffing/management issues.
Toured the daycare, we put a 2 week notice in at 2 children's daycare as part of a reunification plan to start at Countryside. They are supposed to start Monday. Friday at 2pm they tell us they don't have a teacher in one of the classrooms and can't get intouch with the owner to approve a teacher swap around for coverage. Very unprofessional. And now we are left with no childcare... p.s. on our tour the teacher in the 3 year old room was playing on her phone.
Had a horrible experience as a teenager who went there 2-3 years as a child. Not enough food is served and if you’re not behaving you get stuck in the corner
I went here as a child. It was one of the only places I thought of for my own son when it came time to put him in daycare. He started in January of 2017. He really enjoys it there. He is in speech therapy and his speech therapist able to come work with him there. We've never had a problem with this daycare until 1/4/18-1/6/18. On that Thursday my son came home with four small marks on his lower back, the next morning I asked about them and no one was able to tell me how he got them. Then Friday he came home with two scabs on his upper back one on each shoulder. We were starting to get concerned. Saturday we called the owner and asked if you could watch the video from the cameras in the classroom to see if we could figure out how he got hurt two days in a without his teacher or anyone knowing how. She went on to say that isn't why they have cameras, she didnt know if she was comfortable with our son come back if we were going to freak out over every scrape, she said they were superficial marks and we were making a big deal over it, she acted offended that we took him to the doctor to get check/to get a second opinion on his marks. I sent her pictures of the marks on him and her tone changed a little bit all she said was she would talk to his teachers that coming Monday. My son's father called her back to asked when she would be there Monday and she again said she wasn't sure she was comfortable having our son come back. We went a head and just pulled him out of their care. For an owner to not want to know why a child in her facility was hurt two days in a row without anyone knowing how is just strange. All we asked for was to see the tapes from his room so we could all have piece of mind. Not once did she say we could see them and not once did she say she would watch them. Terri does not know how to run a daycare. She also doesn't know how to talk with parents. We looked the daycare up and in April of 2016 it was documented by the state that Terri the owner was witnessed spanking a child once outside, once in the classroom, and then heard spanking a child in the bathroom. The majority of the ladies who work here are amazing. We have never had a problem in the year he's been there. He's fallen and gotten hurt before but it was seen by his teacher and a accident report was filed. I even received day are assistance from the community college while I was taking classes. It paid for most of the weekly cost. And for most of the year they didn't have me pay the rest of what was owned. I didn't start paying it until August of 2017. I saw a review from a women talking about the sign in book. It's just inside the front door and parents or whoever is dropping the kid off is supposed to sign their child in. Then take their child to their classroom where the teacher signs them in on the classrooms roll. We've never had a problem with this in the year our son went. It was mostly parents not signing kids in or out that the daycare had trouble let with. We never had anyone pick our son up just his father or myself but I had seen multiple times where teachers asked to see ID before turning a child over to someone. This would be a pretty nice place if the owner actually cared about the kids and their parents.
Our 11 month started in the baby room on Monday, the teacher in the baby room is fantastic, she is loving and kind. I went in to pick up my girl and she was in floor with the babies crawling around playing. I love the the daily report cards with diaper changes, feeding times, and nap times.
My son was in pre-kat Sawmills Elementary and went to Countryside after school. The teachers complained that the lady picking up the kids wasn't very friendly. On his very first day there my mother-in-law went to pick him up and the lady didn't even ID her! She could have been anyone and this lady was just gonna let her take my son. My mother-in-law went off on the woman about their concern for her grandsons safety and the woman didn't even look concerned. On day two my husband went to get him and they had the sign out book just laid out in the main office for people but no one there. He literally signed him out, found his class, took him, and no said a word. Again, he could have been anyone!! Day three my husband went and again the sign out book was laid out unattended, but wait, it gets better. THEY DIDNT EVEN SIGN MY SON IN!! He went to his class and picked him up and there was no proof my son had even been there that day. On top of that as my husband walked by a toddler class her heard the teacher yelling at the kids to sit down and shut up. I reached out to a friend who works in child care and she told me to look them up on a state website. I saw their inspections and it was a mother's worse nightmare. Food given to kids was not nutritious, staff leaving purses and medications in child reach, medications expired, understaffed, making children sleep under tables, yelling at children, and even physically hurting them. My son did not go back!! I even paid for a week and didn't bother asking for my money or his booster. I couldn't even deal with them!!
