Country Bear Day School

This is my children’s second daycare since we moved to Roanoke. I have to say that this daycare holds a much higher standard than the last. My wife and I have been impressed with the decrease in incident reports of my kids being injured (even bitten on multiple occasions) and that is always a good thing. The women that work there are super sweet and remind me of my older daughter back home. Most importantly they love my kids and my kids love them. I would recommend their childcare services a 100%

I have 2 toddlers that have been there almost a month now and let me tell you, this center is GREAT!!! Soon as you enter, there is always someone there to welcome you. Even going through the hallways the staff are always smiling and greeting you. The facility is ALWAYS clean. There hasn't been a time yet whether dropping off or picking up my boys that I haven't seen someone wiping something down or organizing something. The teachers are EXTREMELY patient with the children. I have one that's in his true terrible 2 stage but they handle him with great care. Not to mention they are wonderful with keeping you updated on what happens daily. I would highly recommend this daycare at this location to anyone. We love Childcare Network Starkey Road!!

We were initially very pleased with this daycare and even left a glowing review. However, over the past four months, the quality of care and communication has significantly declined—particularly regarding staffing shortages. We are now on at least our fourth consecutive month of limited staffing notifications, which has forced families to arrive as early as 5:45 AM (well before the center opens at 6:30 AM) just to secure a spot for their children. Most days, we receive a notification by 8:00 AM stating they cannot accept additional children for the day. As full-time working parents, this has been incredibly stressful—but the real hardship is on the children, who are being woken up far too early just to wait in line for care they may not receive. Our 22-month-old has had the benefit of a consistent teacher, which we appreciate. However, our 5-year-old in pre-K has experienced multiple teacher transitions during his short 18 months here. As this is a pivotal year before entering kindergarten, we’re deeply concerned about the lack of educational consistency. Worksheets alone do not prepare children for school—consistent, thoughtful teaching does. While the individual teachers have been warm and kind, I believe the issue lies with Childcare Network as a franchise. The ongoing turnover suggests that staff are not being properly supported or compensated. I’ve called the District Manager, Loreen, three times and left voicemails, with no response. I also contacted corporate directly and never received a reply. The lack of accountability and follow-up is incredibly disheartening for families who rely on this program. Childcare Network frequently promotes its “research-based curriculum,” but we’ve yet to see that implemented in a meaningful or consistent way. Weekly themes are listed in the app, but our children’s experiences do not reflect any structured curriculum being followed. We are hopeful that this feedback prompts leadership to reflect and make changes. This center has potential, but it’s currently falling short in delivering the quality care and education our children deserve.

We are very happy with Childcare Network. My son has been here since 3.5 months old, and we have never had any problems. The teachers and directors are very attentive to the needs of my child on a personal level. He is now 14 months old and we are still very pleased with CN.

We have had multiple children attend Childcare Network (on Starkey) for over 4 years now. The teachers and admin have always been so kind and professional. I feel confident that my children have been safe and nurtured there. The teachers really work with the kids to help prepare them for kindergarten. They had my oldest writing his letters and numbers by age 3, I was a proud momma! Very nice and clean facility with a gym for rainy or cold days. They prepare good meals for the kids so I don’t have to pack lunches or snacks. Great daycare!
